Upstairs Music and Speedyking Collaborate on the Instrumental Project “Upstairs Percussions”

For the past 10 years, Roobny “Speedyking” Ligonde has recorded and toured with Julian Marley, playing percussion in the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter’s band. Since mid-2024, he has been busy in the studio working on his first solo album.

The instrumental project hears him working with producer Danny Breakenridge for Upstairs Music, an independent label based in South Florida. To date, they have recorded 10 songs which Speedyking describes as “pure roots-reggae, traditional reggae.”

The album titled ‘Upstairs Percussions’ was released on November 14th, and the Haiti-born musician is excited about being in the spotlight after years of enhancing the music of high-profile acts such as Julian Marley, his brother Stephen Marley, Louie Culture and Betty Wright.

“It’s a great feeling working with Upstairs Music. We gave great ideas. And things just worked out fine, you know,” he said.

Although he was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti’s capital, much of Speedyking’s formative years were spent in Brooklyn, New York, home to a massive Jamaican and West Indian community. While he has no direct influence as a percussionist, he points to the music of Bob Marley as a major inspiration for him choosing music as a career.

Referring to Julian Marley as “a cool artist”Speedyking played on his 2019 Grammy-nominated album, ‘As I Am’. He also played on ‘Colors of Royal’Julian’s album with Antaeus, which won the 2024 Grammy for Best Reggae Album.

‘Upstairs Percussions’ is available on all major streaming platforms including Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer, Tidal, Amazon Music, iTunes, Pandora among others.

Alwayne Love Delves Deep with New Single “Nobody But Love”

Emerging recording artist Alwayne Love, in collaboration with his management team at T25 Records, has recently unveiled a poignant new single titled “Nobody but Love.” This powerful tune draws inspiration from the myriad challenges he currently faces, particularly his efforts to maintain a balanced life as a family man while simultaneously advancing his career as a singer and songwriter.

Musically, “Nobody but Love” is an eclectic blend of acoustic sounds, soft rock, and soul, infused with elements of reggae. Lyrically, Alwayne embarks on an endearing journey for the listener, emphasizing that nothing holds greater significance than love—specifically the love from God itself. In discussing the inspiration behind this track, Alwayne stated: “The concept of this song represents a milestone in my journey and its relevance to current events; choosing morals over profanity and venturing into unknown territories necessitating faith over sight can lead to isolation where one must rely solely on God.”

The beat for “Nobody but Love” was crafted by Ryini Beats, a Los Angeles-based company led by Ryan Anderson—a notable musician, composer, songwriter, and producer. When reflecting on what he hopes listeners will take away from this song, Alwayne remarked: “Listeners should acknowledge that when push comes to shove those you love may not always be present for you. Even amidst friends and family who are often preoccupied with their own distractions—especially as men are expected to embody strength—they may overlook your emotional struggles. Ultimately, only God remains steadfast when it matters most since one’s worth is inherently tied to what they have to offer.”

“Nobody but Love” is now available across all major streaming platforms including Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer, Tidal, Amazon Music, iTunes, Pandora among others. An official music video has already been filmed and will be released soon.
