AGD Celebrates Senior Citizens’ Month with “Concert in the Courtyard”

The Accountant General’s Department (AGD) will host “Concert in the Courtyard,” a free musical event celebrating Senior Citizens’ Month, on Friday, September 25, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The afternoon of live music will take place in the AGD parking lot at 21 Dominica Drive in Kingston, and will feature performances by veteran reggae and lovers rock artist George Nooks, as well as winner of the JCDC 2026 Festival Song Competition, D’Burnz. The event will be hosted by broadcaster and media personality Dahlia Harris.

Admission is free, and attendees can look forward to soup and giveaways on the house. Additional parking will be available at the New Kingston Drive-In Cinema.

Resurgence: Night of Worship (Fort Washington on Oct. 2)

Resurgence: Night of Worship takes place on October 2 at 7 p.m. at the National Church of God, 6701 Bock Road in Fort Washington, Maryland. The evening features Todd Galberth, Jekalyn Carr, JJ Hairston & Youthful Praise, Kierra Sheard-Kelly, and Todd Dulaney.

The event is hosted in partnership with Prince George’s County Council leadership, Council Chair Krystal Oriadha (District 7) and Council Member Edward Burroughs III (District 8), underscoring the county’s interest in community-centered events that bring residents together.

Mr. Cool Returns To Canada After Productive Jamaica Visit

Reggae artist Mr. Cool has returned to Canada following a little over a month in Jamaica, where he attended to personal family matters while also advancing his music career.

During his time on the island, Mr. Cool filmed three music videos for his previously released songs “All Those Lies” and “Ibrahim Traore,” as well as his newest single, “They Don’t Want Us To Know.” All three videos were filmed by Maria Jackson 27 and are currently in the editing stage.

The visuals will be released individually over the coming months. Mr. Cool also plans to return to Jamaica before the end of the year for additional promotion and media appearances.

Carl Thomas Brings “The Sweet Escape” to Aurora on October 17

Carl Thomas will headline The Sweet Escape, a live concert on Saturday, October 17, at The Piazza, 85 Executive Drive in Aurora, Illinois.

Thomas will be joined by a lineup of R&B talent: Ro James, Nathan Palmer, Devon Culture, and Slique Jay Adams. DJ Lil John will provide the sounds throughout the evening, and Ramonski Luv and Amber Ali will host.

Young Survivors Entertainment is bringing a night of live music to Belize City next Valentine’s season. The company will present Shut Down Belize: Valentine’s Concert on Saturday, February 13th, 2027, at the Belize Civic Center.

The lineup features rising Jamaican singer and songwriter Stalk Ashley, acclaimed Jamaican reggae and dancehall artist Gyptian, and well-known Jamaican reggae, dancehall, and lovers rock singer Daville.

The event is supported by Garcia’s Motors.

2nd Edition of the Reggae Ambassador Dinner & Dance Gala

Niagara Falls will get a taste of Jamaican music this Thanksgiving long weekend. Kings of Kings, in association with Plush Imperial, presents the second edition of the Reggae Ambassador Dinner & Dance Gala on Saturday, October 10, at The Columbus Room, 6969 Stanley Avenue.

The evening is headlined by Marcia Griffiths, billed as “The Queen of Reggae.” Griffiths will be joined by Jah Mason, Angie Angel, Iley Dread, Mel Dube, and King Fabulous. Additional information and tickets are available via Ticketgateway.

Mocho Community to Celebrate Local Agriculture at Annual Pear Festival

The agricultural community of Mocho is gearing up to showcase Jamaica’s agricultural excellence at the highly anticipated Mocho Pear Festival. Initially scheduled for an earlier timeframe, organizers have announced a new official date for the gathering: Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Lennon High School.

Attendees can look forward to a diverse, family-friendly lineup of activities that celebrates regional farming and explores creative culinary uses of the avocado. The event will also feature a marketplace for local entrepreneurs and vendors.

Additionally, the festival will feature a robust entertainment segment with performances by Duane Stephenson, Aaron Silk, D Burnz, Iyasimba, the Gooden Sisters, Orkyd, Buzz, In2Nation Band, and others.
