On May 10th, British reggae group Aswad will release their new album, Live in London, via SMC Records, a division of The Spaine Music Company. This is a ten-track LP that was literally recorded live in the heart of London. It is now available for pre-order on Apple Music and Spotify.
International recording artist Perfect Giddimani, who is known for creating roots music, has ventured into the now trending sound of trap-reggae. For those not in the know, this is reggae from Jamaica fused with American trap music.
Giddimani‘s newest single, Rice & Peas, which was released on April 5th via Mystic Firm Production, is a vibrant, rhythmic track that instantly captivates listeners. The Prudential Foundation JA, a fifteen-year old charity with operations in Jamaica and Nigeria, will be having a Sip & Paint on Saturday, May 4th. It will be at Regardless (The Manley Centre), located at 4 Washington Drive in Kingston, Jamaica.
The event’s objective is to raise funds for Prudential’s flagship program, Celebrations Are Sweeter When Shared. Attendees will be treated to performances by reggae artists Hezron and Capleton, and it will be hosted by Kei Dubb. There is a required J$13,000 contribution that includes snacks, entertainment, and material.
American singer, actress, model, producer, and dancer Vanessa Williams uses her latest single to shine a light on an important topic: ageism. The song, titled Legs (Keep Dancing), as well as its official video, came out a couple days ago, on April 26.
On the record and in the visuals, Williams – who is now 61 years young – makes it clear that after more than two decades in the music industry, and despite her age, she’s still got it. In early December (2023), Vibez Productionz released the French Toast Riddim. This is a soca compilation that features music by Imran Nerdy, Patrice Roberts, Hypasounds, Arthur Allain, and DYP.

Redemption, the popular Caribbean music event series that’s presented by D’Bandit, will have its next staging on Friday, May 3rd, 2024 at Grand Bizarre – 15 Saskatchewan Road – in Toronto, Ontario.
