Tonya P Nominated For 3 Reggae North Music Awards

Tonya P is considered reggae royalty in Canada. She is the daughter of beloved Jamaican promoter Clive ‘Kubba’ Pringle, who was the owner and operator of the popular MXIII Entertainment Complex in Negril before his passing. This was the home of Bob Marley Birthday Bash in Jamaica.

Following in her father’s footsteps, Tonya P fell in love with music and has been actively involved in the industry since the tender age of 14. In addition to being a singer and songwriter, she is also an accomplished producer and co-owner of Starliners Entertainment, an imprint she operates with her husband Mally Bless, who is a recording artist as well.

With all that she has done and continues to do, it is no surprise that Tonya P is nominated for 3 Reggae North Music Awards. The inaugural award show will be staged at The Rose Theatre (1 Theatre Lane) in Brampton, Ontario, on Sunday, September 29, 2024. Tonya is nominated for Top Female Vocalist of the Year, Top Reggae Song of the Year (female), and Songwriter of the Year.

As she prepares herself for the event, Tonya P and her team are busy promoting her recently released single, Rise. The song was published in early August, on the 9th, and it’s already enjoying favorable features and rotation on reggae platforms all over.

MC Lyte Releases New Single “Thank You”

One of the pioneers of female rap, MC Lyte, has just released an inspirational single called Thank You. The record features Mary Mary and Muni Long, and is being labeled as gospel by some industry insiders, not because of Mary Mary but rather because of MC Lyte‘s overt and passionate praise and acknowledgement of God.

Hip-hop lovers, however, who are of the belief that Lyte may be dropping an album soon, consider Thank You one of the strongest of her recent releases. It went live on streaming platforms on August 23rd and is on the My Block Inc. imprint.
