Tropicalfete Presents Its 5th Annual Caribbean Pop-Up Carnival In Times Square

Tropicalfete, Inc., with the generous support of official event sponsor NYC Health + Hospitals/Gotham Health, proudly announces its 5th Annual Caribbean Pop-Up Carnival in Times Square. The celebration takes place on Sunday, August 30, at 1:00 PM along Broadway (between West 46th and West 47th Streets). Attendees are invited to wear carnival costumes, wave their national flags, and celebrate the rich diversity of Caribbean culture.

Hosted by Vibes Man Redman and Katherine Charles, Esq., the event features an exciting lineup of acclaimed performers, headlined by legendary Billboard chart-topping soca artist Rupee. The schedule will also include a performance by Mapy, “The Violin Queen.” Born on Réunion Island, raised in Paris and now based in Brooklyn.

Carnival masquerade traditions from all over the Caribbean representing traditional, folkloric, ole (satirical), and pretty mas will also be highlighted. 

The Meditations Bring Legendary Roots Reggae to Berkeley

Legendary Jamaican roots reggae vocal harmony group The Meditations will perform live at The Freight in Berkeley, California, on Tuesday, September 22, 2026. Formed in Jamaica in late 1974, The Meditations have established themselves as an enduring force in roots reggae music.

Doors open at 7:00 p.m., with the show beginning at 8:00 p.m. The Freight is located at 2020 Addison Street in Berkeley.

General admission tickets are $30 plus $9 in fees, for a total of $39. Youth ages 21 and under and students with valid student identification can purchase tickets for $15 plus $9 in fees, totaling $24. Tickets are available through The Freight’s website.

Brooklyn Labor Day Blocko Mania Returns Bigger for 2026

The annual Brooklyn Labor Day celebration is set to get bigger with the return of Blocko Mania, scheduled for Thursday, September 3, 2026, from 7:00 PM to 1:00 AM at the Brooklyn Museum, 200 Eastern Parkway, Brooklyn, NY 11238.

This year’s event will feature live performances from a powerhouse Soca lineup. Confirmed artists include Blaka Dan, Edwin Yearwood, Iwer George, Rikki Jai, Jadel, and Anika Berry, along with a Special Guest to be announced. Organizers note that many more artists are to be added.

The event is presented by Gemini Production in association with Caribbean Power Jam.

Catch Next at Stage Red Fontana on August 30

Stage Red Fontana, a live entertainment venue located at 8463 Sierra Ave in Fontana, California, has announced that R&B group NEXT is confirmed, and will perform on August 30, 2026.

NEXT rose to prominence in the late 1990s with their debut album Rated Next, but their breakthrough came with the 1998 smash hit “Too Close,” which topped both the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts. The song’s infectious groove, smooth harmonies and provocative lyrics helped establish NEXT as one of the defining R&B groups of the era.

Paulade, the stage name of UK-based singer-songwriter and producer Paul Adewunmi, is a Christian recording artist whose music blends contemporary R&B, soul, and gospel jazz. Mantle Revival: Fire & Glory

Mantle Revival: Fire & Glory will bring two days of worship, preaching and ministry to Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on September 11–12, 2026. The New York gathering is presented by Joshua Giles Ministries.
