“Return of the Legends Vol. 23” Brings Classic Hip-Hop Lineup to Detroit This September

Detroit hip-hop fans have a major show to look forward to this fall. The Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre will host “Return of the Legends Vol. 23” on Saturday, September 5th, featuring a stacked lineup of respected veterans in the genre.

Headlining the event is Houston rap icon Scarface, joined by West Coast production legend DJ Quik. The bill also includes fellow Houston artists Slim Thug and Paul Wall, along with Devin the Dude and Lil’ Flip.

The event is presented by McDonald’s and supported by Detroit radio stations 97.9 WJLB and Mix 92.3. Tickets are available exclusively through the box office, TheAretha.com, and Ticketmaster.

As with all shows at the venue, the concert is rain or shine, and event details are subject to change. Prices may increase on the day of the show, so early ticket purchases are recommended.

Capleton and Gyptian Headline “Fire in the Park” End-of-Summer Reggae Festival

Canada’s End of Summer Reggae Festival, “Fire in the Park,” is set for Saturday, September 12, 2026.

Among the performers are Capleton, widely known as “The Fireman,” and Gyptian. The lineup also features D’yani, making his first appearance in Canada, and Malie Donn. The event will be hosted by Linky Links and Nikki Hype, with musical juggling from Little Richie, Bad Boy Cha Cha, Chippy Flaire, Hard Fi Deal Wid, Blakz Dun Da Place and Heavy Metal Sound.

“Fire in the Park” takes place from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at 50 Esna Park Drive in Markham, Ontario. Tickets are available through Ticketgateway.com and at authorized ticket locations.

LaNell Grant, TuKool Tiff, Tylynn and Porsha Love turn up the intensity with “Rap Like A Girl,” a hard-hitting Christian rap collaboration accompanied by an equally powerful official music video, shared August 6 on LaNell Grant’s YouTube channel.

Released July 24, “Rap Like A Girl” is anything but soft. The hardcore Christian rap track gives each of the four women an opportunity to showcase their lyrical ability, commanding flows and undeniable presence. The song has already earned attention within the Christian hip-hop community, including placement on Rapzilla’s “Christian Rap” playlist and NewReleaseToday’s “New Christian Rap Queens” playlist.

The accompanying visual matches the song’s energy from beginning to end. Shot entirely in black and white, the video puts LaNell Grant, TuKool Tiff, Tylynn and Porsha Love front and center as they spit their respective bars with aggression and confidence.

What makes the video particularly captivating is its editing. Quick pops, screen shakes, split-screen sequences and other visual effects heighten the intensity of the performances, creating a fast-moving visual that feels every bit as forceful as the track itself.

Sister Carol Joins CanniFest 2026 Lineup in Humboldt County

Reggae veteran Sister Carol is set to bring her roots sound and powerful lyrical presence to CanniFest 2026, taking place September 12–13 at Arcata Ball Park in Humboldt County, California.

Sister Carol joins a diverse two-day lineup headlined by Melvin Seals & JGB, with performances also scheduled from Brett McFarland & The Freedom Riders, Bella Rayne, Shuck Nasty, Ishi Dube, Broken Compass Bluegrass, Naive Melodies, The California Poppies, KingFoot, Papa Haole & The Fleas, Timbata, Makenu, Hella Mendocino, and The Cowtown Sound.

Reggae artist Xana Romeo has released the official music video for her inspiring single, “Hotta The Battle,” which premiered on her VEVO channel on August 6, 2026.

The song appears on the Victory Riddim released in mid-June by Conquering Lion Records. The riddim pays tribute to Ethiopia’s historic victory over the invading Italian army at the Battle of Adwa on March 1, 1896—a defining moment that continues to symbolize sovereignty, resistance, and Pan-Africanism.

In “Hotta The Battle,” Xana Romeo draws on her Rastafarian faith, expressing her unwavering belief that those devoted to Rastafari are divinely protected by the Most High, regardless of the challenges they face.

Directed by Quan Nelson, the music video features Xana performing before a picturesque waterfall while dressed in the red, gold, and green colours synonymous with Rastafari.
