Richie Stephens Headlines Benefit Concert For Lt. Stitchie In Chicago

As reggae, dancehall, and gospel communities in Jamaica and overseas continue to send well wishes and make donations to Lt.Stitchie, some within those groups are going even further. For example, Richie Stephens, a longtime friend of The Dancehall Governor, is among those who, in addition to contributing to Stitchie‘s rehabilitation journey, is also headlining a concert from which all proceeds will go towards the Lieutenant Stitchie Foundation Fund.

The event, dubbed Richie for Stitchie, will be presented on Friday, November 29th, at Seven Star Lounge (2017 West Howard Street) in Chicago, Illinois. It will also feature the Indika Reggae Band and musical juggling by the world-immortal Stone Love Sound. Starting time is 8:00 p.m., and general admission tickets are US$30.00.

Lt. Stitchie has recently suffered a severe brain hemorrhage that initially made him unresponsive. However, his condition is improving. According to his wife Sophia Laing“he’s hearing, his eyes are open, he responds to voices that he knows, and he is on the road to recovery.” That said, they are still seeking financial help to cover his medical expenses.

Gospel-Reggae Artist Derrick Scott Awarded For “God Answers Prayers”

Great music lives forever! “God Answers Prayers,” a gospel-reggae ska song produced by legendary guitarist, producer, and engineer Willie Lindo and written and performed by inspirational recording artist Derrick Scott, has received a special honor years after it was first shared. It has achieved chart-topping success and now has a plaque that marks its accomplishment.

Three years ago, “God Answers Prayers” climbed to the #1 spot on the South Florida Reggae Chart curated by respected broadcaster Clinton Lindsay. It remained on the chart for several weeks, touching many hearts with its positive message, before eventually retiring. In August of this year, Clinton Lindsay publicly praised Derrick Scott by giving him a long-overdue memorial tablet, formally recognizing the track’s favorable outcome. This recognition has led to a renewed interest in “God Answers Prayers,” with many believing it may soon find its way back onto charts and playlists, attracting new fans.

While Scott and his team celebrate this remarkable accomplishment, they are also concomitantly preparing for the 2024 Gospel Mission Concert, which will be held on November 16 at the Unity New Testament Church of God in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida. The Gospel Mission Concert is an annual event that was initiated by Derrick Scott in 2015. Additional information about this affair will be shared in the coming weeks.
