Toronto- Redemption Featuring Christopher Martin & His Band

Redemption, the popular Caribbean music event series that’s presented by D’Bandit, will have its next staging on Friday, May 3rd, 2024 at Grand Bizarre – 15 Saskatchewan Road – in Toronto, Ontario.

It will be headlined by reggae-dancehall singer and songwriter Christopher Martin, who rose to prominence after winning the Digicel Rising Stars competition in 2005. Martin will be backed by his personal band. Click here to buy tickets.

Sizzla Kalonji Live In Atlanta!

The organizers of the upcoming Sizzla concert in Atlanta is promising that he, Sizzla Kalonji, will take the audience on a musical journey as he celebrates his return to the U.S.

The show will be held on Friday, May 17 at a secret location in Atlanta, Georgia. The address will be given to ticket holders only. Sizzla will be supported by Ras Fraser Jr. and Pressure Busspipe, and passes can be purchased from vipsocio-com.

Roadblock Radio Will Start Airing On CBS 101.1FM Next Month

In what is being described by business insiders as the most transformative power play in diaspora radio, Roadblock radio will on May 1, 2024, begin broadcasting 24×7 Caribbean content on 101.1FM HD3 in the tri-state area. The announcement was made by Roadblock radio founder and CEO Kacy ‘G City’ Rankine.

Rankine, who brokered the landmark deal, said he signed a contract with Audacy, Inc, the third largest radio company in the US in March. Audacy, Inc. owns 235 radio stations across 48 media markets. In November, 2017, the company merged with CBS radio.

Without specifically naming Caribbean personalities that will be part of the new station, Rankine said, “We have jocks lining up from NY, NJ, LA, Colorado, Florida, Jamaica, Trinidad, Africa and Haiti who will all be part of this new experience. We will play reggae, dancehall, soca, kompa music and everything in between. This will be big for the culture.”

Agent Sasco Confirmed For Jack Daniel’s Backyaad BBQ

On Sunday, April 28th, international dancehall artist Agent Sasco will perform at Jack Daniel’s Backyaad BBQ Food & Music Festival happening at The Port Royal Cruise Terminal in Kingston, Jamaica.

Sasco will be joined by South Florida’s Yung Wylin, as well as selectors Bishop Escobar, DJ Mac, Romzi Nova, Fyahman, Baba, Ijav, Vinchi, and DJ Dwyane. Tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite.

Is Terror Fabulous Really Back?

There is a lot of talk in and around dancehall communities regarding the re-emergence of arguably one of the best dancehall lyricists from the 90s, Terror Fabulous. After giving us mega hits like Order, Body & Shape, Gangster’s Anthem, Gun Jezebel, Position, and that is just to name a few, he slowly disappeared from the music scene. To this day no one really knows why.

Now, years later, we are learning that the deejay is under new management, and he is booked to perform at the forthcoming 90s Joyride stage show and dance at Pier 1 in Montego Bay on April 27th.

Furthermore, a few days ago, Fabulous posted the following on his social media: “Music is life. Music keeps me positive, takes me to another realm, makes everything alright… It Feels Amazing To Be Back… Jah Know!”

St. D’acre Carnival

On April 1st, 2024, the annual Easter Monday St. D’acre Carnival will take place at the St. D’acre Community Center in Alexandria, St. Ann, Jamaica. This is a family affair that will have rock climbing, bounce-a-bout, zipliners, and other child-friendly entertainment and activities.

As for the grown-ups, there will be a live stage show with performances by Bounty Killa, I Octane, Sanchez, Shaniel Muir, Etana, and a surprise guest artists. Most importantly, this is a free event that’s open to the public.

On Saturday, April 27th, lovers of 80s/90s reggae-dancehall music are invited to Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre in Kingston, Jamaica, as this era will be celebrated at the Ruggu Dat! 14K Golden Mic Awards.

Professor Nuts, a veteran dancehall lyricist who rose to prominence in the eighties, will be recognized for his contribution to the genre. Additionally, there will be performances by Agent Sasco and Lady G, with appearances and mic presentations by Beresford Hammond, Damian ‘Jr. Gong’ Marley, and Orville ‘Shaggy’ Burrell.
