Brooklyn’s Soca Fest Goes Down On August 30th

One of the biggest soca events happening on Labor Day weekend in New York is Soca Fest! It will take place on Friday, August 30th, at the Brooklyn Museum (200 Eastern Parkway) from 8:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. the following morning.

The lineup of soca and reggae artists includes Nomcebo Zikode, Patrice Roberts, Mical Teja, Jadel, Farmer Nappy, Christopher Martin, Nigy Boy, Pumpa, Raymond Ramnarine, Tallpree, Mr. Killa, Terror D Governor, and A Team Band. Click here for tickets.

The Black Radio Experience

The Blue Note Jazz Festival’s Black Radio Experience, which will be held at The Meritage Resort & Spa in Napa California from August 30th to September 1st, is a celebration of the rich tapestry of Black culture.

With renowned Grammy-winning musician Robert Glasper at the helm, The Black Radio Experience will present performances by several top-tier musical acts. John Legend, Jill Scott, André 3000, Musiq Soulchild, Marsha Ambrosius, Common, Pete Rock, and DJ Jazzy Jeff are just some of the names on the lineup.

Moe’s Alley Presents Black Uhuru With The Rudians

Popular live music venue Moe’s Alley will host the Grammy Award-winning reggae group Black Uhuru on Saturday, September 7th, 2024. The show will also feature special guests, The Rudians, an emerging reggae ensemble from Salinas, California.

This is a 21 and older concert that will begin at 8:00 p.m. local time. Moe’s Alley is located at 1535 Commercial Way in Santa Cruz, California. Click here to buy tickets.

Prezident Brown’s Album Release Set For August 31st In Oakland

Recording artist Prezident Brown will wrap up the month of August with a performance at the Uptown Oakland Reggae Festival, which will take place at Forage Kitchen (478 25th Street) in Oakland, California, on Saturday, August 31st.

This show is special because it’s in support of Prezident Brown‘s recently released album, Roots Hop Reggae (In Your Box), published to streaming platforms on July 28.

Other artists confirmed for the Uptown Oakland Reggae Festival are Reggae Angels, Brady Shammar, Princess Alreca, Keteis Oyonde, and Empress Sharon. Black Love Sound is also on the program. Admission is US$25.00.

‘Reggae Splash On The Vineyard’ With Marcia Griffiths

Reggae Splash on the Vineyard, an event that’s all about celebrating life, love, and unity, will be staged at the Martha’s Vineyard Performing Arts Center (100 Edgartown Road) in Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts, on Sunday, August 18.

There will be a performance by Jamaican singer Marcia Griffiths, who was a member of the I Threes and Bob and Marcia, not to mention her very distinguished career as a solo artist. Tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite.

051 Glorious Hill Gospel Music Festival

The 051 Glorious Hill Gospel Music Festival is set to take place on September 1, 2024, at the Madiba Arena (Vista) in Bloemfontein, South Africa.

This highly anticipated event promises a night of worship, hope, and thanksgiving with performances by renowned gospel artists such as Janet Manyowa, Bishop Benjamin Dube, Ntokozo Mbambo, Khaya Mthethwa, Dumi Mkokstad, Skwara, and Thami Mancho, among others.

Mesha Steele’s Philly Show Postponed Until August 21st

A few days ago, on August 7th, legendary vocalist and storyteller Beres Hammond announced that he would be postponing both his Long Island and Philadelphia shows, which were to take place on August 7th and 8th, respectively. This means that Philly-based fans and supporters of Belizean-American singer Mesha Steele will also have to wait to see her because she is one of the opening acts on that show.

Thankfully, a new date has already been given for the Pennsylvania leg of BeresForever Giving Thanks Tour. It will now be on August 21st, and Mesha Steele will be there!

Steele, who is a highly accomplished reggae artist from Belize, has been crisscrossing the U.S. for some time now. In addition to her upcoming appearance with Beres Hammond, her schedule also includes a show at The Beer Garden on August 16 in Stamford, Connecticut; a stop in Nantucket, Massachusetts, on the 29th; and a set at Cisco Brewers in New Bedford, which is also in Massachusetts, on August 31st.

The aforementioned concert with Beres Hammond will be held at the Keswick Theatre (291 N Keswick Avenue) in Glenside, which is approximately 12 miles from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
