Virginia Union University Brings Star-Studded Gospel Lineup to Richmond for Homecoming Concert

Virginia Union University will celebrate Homecoming with a Gospel Concert on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at 5:00 PM at United Nations Church, 214 Cowardin Avenue.

The evening features Jay Todd, Jonathan McReynolds, Jonathan Nelson, and Patrick Riddick & D’Vyne Worship, along with Hezekiah Walker. The VUU Gospel Choir will also perform, and Lexi will host the event.

The concert is a highlight of the university’s Homecoming festivities, bringing together students, alumni, and members of the Richmond community for an evening of worship and celebration. Gospel music has long been central to the culture of historically Black colleges and universities, and the VUU Gospel Choir carries that tradition forward by sharing the stage with some of the genre’s most recognized names.

Mikey Spice and Anthony Malvo to Headline Live Concert in Orlando

Wayne Fire Promotion will present Mikey Spice and Anthony Malvo live in concert on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at Unity Event Hall, 2620 N. Hiawassee Road, Orlando, Florida.

The event will also feature Jeffery Mykals, Knock Shizzle, and Chet of the Bob Marley Wailers. Country Man of Jammies 1680 AM Radio will host the evening, while music will come from Star Gold Entertainment, Jubba Killa of Natural Stone Sound, Richie Elements, and New Wave Sound.

Advance tickets, which are $40, are sold at all three Caribbean Sunshine Bakery restaurant locations. Karyn White to Perform at Ludlow Garage October 10

Ludlow Garage, located at 342 Ludlow Avenue in Cincinnati, Ohio, is set to welcome R&B favorite Karyn White for a live performance on Saturday, October 10. Doors open at 6:00 PM, with the show beginning at 7:30 PM. Tickets are available now through Ticketmaster.

Karyn White’s 1988 self-titled debut album broke new ground when her first three solo singles—“The Way You Love Me,” “Superwoman,” and “Love Saw It”—each topped the Billboard R&B chart, making her the first female artist to achieve the feat.

Xscape Brings “A Night With Xscape” to The Chicago Theatre on October 29

Yung Fly Entertainment presents A Night With Xscape, a live concert on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at The Chicago Theatre, 175 N. State Street, in downtown Chicago.

The evening is billed as an unforgettable night of timeless R&B and hip-hop, with the celebrated group Xscape headlining. Special guests Plies, Case and Pleasure P will join them on stage. DJ Sean Mac will provide the music between performances.

Lt. Stitchie, Pioneering Dancehall and Gospel Artiste, Dies at 60

Jamaican deejay, songwriter and gospel-reggae artiste Lt. Stitchie has died at age 60. The veteran entertainer, whose real name was Cleveland Laing, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2026, at a Kingston hospital, one day before his 61st birthday.

Lt. Stitchie first rose to prominence during the 1980s dancehall era with hits including “Wear Yuh Size,” “Natty Dread,” “Night and Day” and “Dress To Impress.” In 1988, he signed with Atlantic Records, releasing three albums with the major label and helping introduce Jamaican dancehall to a wider international audience.

Following a life-changing experience in 1997, Stitchie embraced Christianity and redirected his career toward gospel reggae. He went on to become a respected gospel artiste, minister, motivational speaker and author, while continuing to acknowledge the dancehall roots that shaped his career.

In 2021, he was awarded the Order of Distinction in the rank of Officer (OD) for his contribution to reggae and dancehall music locally and internationally. His musical legacy also continued into recent years, with new recordings released as he remained active in music despite serious health challenges.

Lt. Stitchie suffered a major stroke in 2024 and spent the following years undergoing rehabilitation. His passing brings to a close a remarkable career that spanned dancehall, gospel, ministry and more than four decades of Jamaican music.

His debut album, KuKaramakara, propelled him to stardom with the infectious hit single “Ay Cosita Linda,” showcasing his signature blend of Mexican melodies and Caribbean flavors.

Kass‘ musical journey reached new heights with the release of his album JOURNEYS, produced by the legendary Dean Frazer and acclaimed writer-producer Mikey Bennett. This 16-track masterpiece features captivating remakes and original compositions that speak to Kass‘ personal experiences and spiritual journey.

Never one to shy away from innovation, Kass has also teamed up with DJ Playero, the mastermind behind “Gasolina” by Daddy Yankee, to create the original reggaeton anthem “KUMINA,” continuing his mission to bring Caribbean and Latin sounds together in a powerful musical fusion.

Inner City Dub Chapter 31 to Honor Samora Machel

Kingston’s weekly roots and cultural gathering, Inner City Dub, returns for its 31st chapter on Monday, September 28, with an evening dedicated to the legacy and Pan-African impact of late Mozambican President Samora Machel.

Dubbed “Recalling Samora Machel,” the event takes place from 7:00 PM to midnight at Nation Lounge, 2A Milk Lane in West Kingston, near Queens Bridge and Spanish Town Road. The evening is themed around Machel’s words, “Imperialist exploitation and an unjust international economic order are a cause of war,” with the programme centered on conscious music and cultural reflection.

The night will feature live dub music, roots selector sessions and conscious lyricism, with special performances from legendary dancehall and roots reggae singer Triston Palma, veteran reggae artist Papa Michigan, of Michigan & Smiley fame, along with Harmonique and Shady Natural. Denise “Isis” Miller will guide the evening as the “Lioness of Ceremony.”

Admission is free, with the organizers stating that the official entry requirement is simply “Love & Light.”
