The National Hip-Hop Honors & Concert 2025

This year’s National Hip-Hop Honors & Concert will take place on August 18-23 at the Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company in Washington, D.C. During the week, from Monday through Friday, the event will be free and open to all ages. There will be a pop-up exhibit of rare artifacts from The National Hip-Hop Museum collection. It will include the Hip-Hop Declaration of Peace, RIAA Gold Awards, stage-worn apparel, vintage posters, and much more.

Starting at 12 noon on Saturday, August 23rd, the main event will feature The National Hip-Hop Honors, a podcast, an induction ceremony, and a live concert. Hosted by Master Gee and Grandmaster Caz, the 2025 inductees are Kid ‘n Play, Jungle Brothers, DJ Red Alert, Dana Dane, Kwamé, Sweet Tee, Antoinette, DJ Hollywood, and DJ Wiz. Free Juneteenth Concert in Stockbridge, GA, this Thursday!

The City of Stockbridge, in Georgia, is hosting a free Juneteenth celebration this Thursday, June 19, at the VyStar Amphitheater, located at 4650 N Henry Blvd. in Stockbridge.

From 7pm to 11pm, attendees will be treated to live sets by 1980s Afrocentric hip-hop group Arrested Development, emerging vocalist Phillippia, and the three-man ensemble Gritz & Jelly Butter. The gates will open at 5pm local time, and as stated above, admission is free.

Chicago R&B Music Experience: Juneteenth Music Fest

On Thursday, June 19, 2025, the R&B Music Experience tour will stop in Chicago for a Juneteenth Music Fest. Presented by Global Events Productions and BMN Entertainment, in collaboration with V103 Chicago, 107.5 FM (WGCI), and 103.5 KISS FM, it will be at the Wintrust Arena (200 E Cermak Road).

There will be performances by hip-hop and R&B stars Ashanti, Lil Kim, Mýa, Donnell Jones, and Lloyd. Doors will open at 7pm, but showtime is 8pm. Tickets, which start at $65.50, are currently available on Ticketmaster.

Experience Smif-N-Wessun’s “30 Year Anniversary of Dah Shinin” In Philly On July 11th

Brooklyn MCs Smif-N-Wessun are celebrating the 30-year anniversary of their debut studio album, “Dah Shinin,” released in January 1995. To that end, they will be doing a live concert at Philadelphia’s City Winery on Friday, July 11th, at 7:30pm local time.

This is a live band show that will see the men performing songs like “Wontime,” “Bucktown,” “Sound Bwoy Bureill,” and “Let’s Get It On.” Tickets and additional information are available on the venue’s website.

KRS-One Confirmed For Rock The Bells Festival 2025

Much is being made about the confirmation of the hip-hop teacher KRS-One to the upcoming Rock The Bells Festival, and rightfully so. KRS-One rose to prominence as part of the rap group Boogie Down Productions, which he formed with DJ Scott La Rock in the mid-1980s, and he has been considered an integral part of America’s hip-hop culture ever since.

This year’s Rock The Bells Festival is set for Saturday, June 28, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Scarface Confirmed For The Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre On June 27

Legendary rapper and record producer Scarface, who is known for his solo career and as a member of the Geto Boys, a hip-hop group from Houston, Texas, will be performing at The Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre on Friday, June 27th, 2025.

This is a major hip-hop concert that will also feature Too Short, Tha Dogg Pound, Luniz and Spice 1. The Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre is located at 2600 E Atwater in Detroit, Michigan. Tickets are being sold via ticketmaster.com.

Slick Rick’s New Album “Victory” Drops On June 13

The latest buzz in the hip-hop community is the announcement of Slick Rick‘s upcoming album “Victory,” which will be released on June 13, 2025. This is Slick Rick‘s first full-length project since 1999. It will feature Nas, Estelle and Giggs.

Interestingly, “Victory” will also be presented as a 30-minute visual, a mini documentary, that was executive-produced by Idris Elba and directed by Meji Alabi.
