Tasjay Productions Drops “2 Time 2 Riddim” Compilation

On August 8, Tasjay Productions released “2 Time 2 Riddim,” a reggae compilation featuring a diverse lineup of voices and themes. The initial three-track project introduced songs from Horace Martin, Esdras IS-RA-EL, and label artist Rad Dixon. Shortly after its release, Canadian reggae singer Tony Anthony was added to the mix, expanding the compilation’s scope and resonance.

Each track contributes a distinct flavor to the project. Horace Martin’s “Married Man” explores the complexities of love and lust within an affair, while Esdras IS-RA-EL takes a more traditional route with “I Love You,” a heartfelt tribute to his partner. Together, their songs bring intimacy and emotion to the riddim.

On the other side of the spectrum, Rad Dixon and Tony Anthony steer the compilation toward social and spiritual reflection. Dixon’s contribution, “Nah Trust,” confronts politics and the role of politicians—an especially timely message given Jamaica’s current election season. Anthony closes out the project with his interpretation of “Precious Lord,” the classic gospel hymn written by Thomas A. Dorsey in 1932, offering a soulful and reverent finish.

Smooth, melodic, and thematically balanced, “2 Time 2 Riddim” shows Tasjay Productions’ ability to bring together different aspects of reggae—from romance to protest to worship. It’s a concise yet powerful project that deserves a place in the playlists of reggae enthusiasts everywhere.

Mr. Cool’s new single “Come Know Your King” is out now!

Mr. Cool‘s latest single, “Come Know Your King,” is now available on all streaming platforms. The track is an expression of faith and artistry, honoring Emperor Haile Selassie I as the King in the Rastafarian tradition. Built on a smooth, captivating reggae rhythm, the song carries both spiritual weight and an easy groove, offering something meaningful for reggae purists.

The inspiration behind the track is as unconventional as it is striking. Speaking about the moment that sparked the song, Mr. Cool recalled, “I was in my backyard smoking a skiff, and I wanted to see how long I could look into the sun, so I started to stare directly into it for about 20 to 30 minutes. After I came back in the house, I went right to my keyboard and started playing. That’s how I came up with the progression and started to write right away. It wasn’t all finished the same day, but that’s how it came about.” This raw and spontaneous creative spark evolved into a song that balances reflection with rhythm.

The project was entirely written, arranged, and produced by Mr. Cool, but he brought together a team of seasoned musicians to enrich the sound. Boswell Lawson provided the steady pulse on drums, while Rexford Gooden and Dave Manroe contributed bass layers that ground the track. Coptic Dennis Reeves added strings, Benero Benny Dyer offered alternative keys, and Tanisha Wedderburn brought warmth with her background vocals. Celia Baron’s saxophone lines completed the ensemble, weaving in soulful textures.

The track was mixed by Christopher Andre Pearce, better known as Mojo Herbs, at A.O.C Ambassador of Choice Studio.

For Mr. Cool“Come Know Your King” is more than music—it’s a message. When asked what he hopes listeners gain from the song, he explained, “My wishes for the listeners are to come to the true realization that there is only one Creator, and that is H.I.M.”
