Kelly Shane’s Biography (@Tadsrecord)

The Jamaican music industry has birthed yet another unique talent. Hailing from the parish of St. Mary, which has consistently produced top-tier artists throughout Jamaica’s very musical history, newcomer Kelly Shane brings with her the eclectic mix of musical influences ranging from reggae, folk, and bossa nova, to hip-hop, R&B, rock and metal.

New artist but old musical soul, this singer/songwriter is no stranger to the industry. As a professionally trained beauty and special effects makeup artist, she has worked extensively on music videos, adverts, fashion shows and photo shoots. She first toured as a child with her mother (Tanya Stephens) during school vacations, and later worked as her personal assistant.

From the continent of Africa through the sounds of Fela Kuti and Steve Monite, to the Caribbean’s Beres Hammond and Bunji Garlin, and the USA’s Joni Mitchell who Kelly hails as her biggest influence – this unassuming student of evocative expression is ready to share all she has learnt with lovers of good music across the globe.

TasJay Productions & Phylani Music Continue To Celebrate The “My Turn Riddim”

Phylani Music and Tasjay Productions – the two imprints responsible for the widely popular My Turn Riddim – are still celebrating its success months after it was first shared. Although the men behind both labels have collaborated on other projects in the past, it is the My Turn Riddim that has been most instrumental in cementing their working relationship.

The eight-track compilation came out in the last quarter of 22, and it features Rad Dixon (who is signed to Tasjay Productions), Luciano, Tony Anthony (the CEO of Phylani Music), Ed Robinson, Treson, Try Bronxz, Unique, and Fiona Chin

In an earlier interview Tasjay said the following: “It was great working with Tony Anthony on this project. He is a great vocalist, and he pays attention to details when it comes to music production. The songs on the ‘My Turn Riddim’ will inspire and edify people. We believe the masses will embrace this compilation.”

While Anthony expressed: “I have always respected Tasjay’s knowledge of the music business, and his work as a producer. His catalog of work speaks for itself. It was just a matter of time before this collaboration would materialize, and the world can now hear the result of our combined effort.”

The My Turn Riddim is available on all streaming platforms.

Mikey General, Wormbass, Karamanti & Earl Smith Jr. Are Featured On The ‘Survive Riddim’

Survive Riddim is the latest compilation from Blakkwuman22 Music. It’s a six-track project that features new tunes performed by reggae legend Mikey General, veteran bass player and recording artist Wormbass, vocalist Earl Smith Jr. – who is the son of famed guitarist Earl ‘Chinna’ Smith – and lyricist, songwriter and producer Karamanti.

The EP is the brainchild of Karamanti, who wrote three of the songs – her two: Bassline and the title track Survive, as well as I See, which is sung by Earl Smith Jr. The Survive Riddim can aptly be described as mellow, relaxing and enjoyable; with songs centered around freedom (Wormbass‘ Liberation), love (Earl Smith Jr.‘s I See), motivation (Mikey General‘s Up & At Them), spirituality (Karamanti‘s Survive) and the classics (Karamanti‘s Bassline). The official video for Bassline was released with the compilation and can be viewed on Karamanti‘s YouTube channel.

The beat for Survive Riddim was built by Lamar Thompson exclusively for Blakkwuman22 Music, with a live bassline played by the aforementioned Wormbass. All songs were mixed and mastered by Old Harbor based AudioTraxx Production, and distributed independently by Blakkwuman22 Music.

It is now available on iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, and all other streaming platforms.
