Following its New York staging, the 2023 Blue Note Jazz Festival will move to the west coast for three days of live music and laughs. It will be presented on July 28th, 29th and 30th at the Silverado Resort – 1600 Atlas Peak Road – in Napa, California, from 12noon to 11pm, which is when the after party begins.

Jah Vinci & Duane Stephenson Will Perform At St. Thomas Jerk Fest

It’s that time of year again! The annual St. Thomas Jerk Festival is all set for Sunday, July 30th at Lyssons Pavilion, in the suburban parish situated at the south eastern end of Jamaica.

As they’ve always done, the event organizers offer patrons a mix of secular and gospel entertainment. This year’s reggae and dancehall performers are Jah Vinci and Duane Stephenson. Starting time is 12 noon and there is a $2,500 JMD entrance fee.

Grammy Adds New Category: ‘Best African Music Performance’

Next year’s Grammys will feature a new category created specifically to recognize the rise and popularity of Afrobeats. At a meeting in May, the trustees voted to introduce the Best African Music Performance category, as well as awards for Best Alternative Jazz Album and Best Pop Dance Recording.

In a statement, the organizers said the following about the new African category: “it recognizes recordings that utilize unique local expressions from across the African continent.”

Alison Hinds & Luciano For Bayfront Reggae & World Music Fest

The annual Bayfront Reggae & World Music Festival, which is all about spreading messages of love, hope, and equality, will be held at the Bayfront Festival Park – 5th Ave West and Railroad Street – in Duluth, Minnesota, on Saturday, July 15th.

As the name implies, the entertainment will be provided by artists and selectors proficient in reggae and world music, namely: Luciano, Alison Hinds, Konshens, Stonebwoy, Dred I Dread, Rootz Within and Sound of Fujun.

Kirk Franklin Announces ‘The Reunion Tour’

Mega gospel recording artist and producer, Kirk Franklin, announced on Friday that he’s bringing The Reunion Tour to cities and towns across America this fall, with one date in Canada. So far he has confirmed a total of 30 shows, starting in Boston on October 1st.

The Reunion Tour will feature Israel Houghton, David & Tamela Mann, Tye Tribbett, The Clark Sisters, and of course Kirk Franklin; with special guests New Breed, The Family and God’s Property.

Several Reggae-Dancehall Acts Tapped For St. Kitts Music Fest

Despite the chatter about the decline in quality music – primarily dancehall – from Jamaica, it is clear that fans all over the world still look to the Rock for their musical entertainment. This is apparent on the upcoming St. Kitts Music Festival, where approximately nine Jamaican acts are among the confirmed headliners.

The event runs from Thursday, June 22nd to Saturday, the 24th at the Warner Park Cricket Stadium in Basseterre. The lineup includes Chronixx, Anthony B, Romain Virgo, Gramps Morgan, Dexta Daps, Koffee, Teejay, Valiant, Govana and Skillibeng.
