Sidney Mills Among Collaborators On Taj Weekes’ New Record ‘Eyes To See’

Saint Lucian singer, musician, and humanitarian activist Taj Weekes has released his 8th album, Eyes to See. Published on Jatta Records, this project is a collaborative effort by and between Weekes, Zion Albert, Sidney Mills, and Shelton Garner.

Mills is a musician, producer, studio engineer, music arranger, and so much more. Although he is best known for his time spent as a member of the roots reggae band Steel Pulse, he has worked with several other reggae ensembles and artists in anyone of the aforementioned roles. Taj Weekes‘ LP ‘Eyes To See’ is just one of the most recent works that he has contributed to.

Catch Kes The Band, Nadia Batson & Others In Hollywood, Fl. On Oct. 14

On Monday, October 14, and in honor of Miami Carnival, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino (1 Lucky Street) in Hollywood, Florida, will welcome soca music at their DAER Dayclub/Nightclub. The event, dubbed Sexy ‘N’ White, will commence at 6:00 p.m. and is expected to run well into the following morning.

Attendees will be treated to performances by Kes The Band, Raymond Ramnarine, Nadia Batson, Johnny King, Ainsley King, and others. The live acts will be supported by several top-tier international DJs. Click here for tickets.

King Yellowman & I-Octane Confirmed For Nola Reggae Fest 2024

The 5th annual Nola Reggae Festival will be three days of roots music, reggae culture, and mouth-watering food. It will be held at the Congo Square (701 North Rampart Street) in New Orleans, Louisiana, on October 25th, 26th, and 27th.

Headlining acts are reggae legend King Yellowman and dancehall heavyweight I-Octane. Other performers on the lineup are Ha Sizzle, Dem Roots, Denisia, Jaican, RikJam, TBC Brass Band, Higher Heights, Nkiruka, Wippa Demus, and that is just to name a few. Have You Seen Kurtiouss’ Latest Video “This Love For You”?

Ricardo Wray, known professionally as Kurtiouss, is a talented singer, songwriter, and lyrical deejay from Hesse Cassel in St. Ann, Jamaica, who now resides in the United States. He recently released the official video for his single “This Love For You.”

“This Love For You” is featured on the highly acclaimed “Natural Vibes Riddim,” a reggae compilation produced by Reggae Vibes Music that includes notable artists such as BusySignal, Jah Cure, Turbulence, and many others. The music video was skillfully directed by Darren Grant of Big Brother Production and was filmed in mid-July in the picturesque coastal town of Lucea, situated between Negril and Montego Bay.

Kurtiouss has expressed great enthusiasm regarding the reception of this song: “It has been doing pretty good; it’s been getting a lot of support and good feedback from people around the world.” He notes that this project has significantly advanced his career due to its production quality and extensive promotional efforts.

Currently gaining traction on various reggae radio stations across several African countries, Kurtiouss‘ team is diligently working towards securing airtime for the video on African television. Mikey General Confirmed For ‘Rise Reggae’ In Barbados

Veteran reggae artist Mikey General will join his longtime friend and music colleague Luciano at the forthcoming Rise Reggae concert in Barbados. Scheduled for Saturday, November 16th, the event will also feature performances by Gyptian, Tarrus Riley, and legendary saxophonist Dean Fraser.

Mikey General is a British-born Jamaica-based singer-songwriter who has given us hits like “Father God Almighty,” “Sinners,” “Deh Pon Dem,” and many more. In the early 90s, he, along with Luciano, Shadowman, Jesse Jenda, Ragnum Poyser, and a young Sizzla Kalonji, were all recognized as members of the Exterminator Crew because they were recording for Phillip ‘Fattis’ Burrell’s Exterminator label.

Fast forward to 2024, and Mikey General, who is a committed Rastafarian, is still actively delivering faith-based music and socially conscious content. A couple of his more recent releases that have gained traction are “Redemption,” a collaboration done with Luciano for Dub-Stuy Records, and “Up & At Them,” voiced on the “Survive Riddim” for Blakkwuman22 Music.

Rise Reggae will be held at Kensington Oval (3WS Theatre), which is located in Bridgetown.

Gramps Morgan Drops New Visuals “All About Love”

Jamaican-American singer-songwriter, instrumentalist, and producer Gramps Morgan has just released the official video for “All About Love.” The song is featured on his 2021 album, “Positive Vibration,” which was shared on the Halo Entertainment Group label.

Port Royal Seafood Festival 2024

On Sunday, October 20th, the annual Port Royal Seafood Festival will be staged at the Grand Hotel Excelsior on Port Royal Main Road. This is a family affair that will run from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. There will be rides, prizes, a harbor boat tour, lots of seafood, and of course live entertainment. 

Confirmed performers are Nigy Boy, Capleton, Carey Sayles, and Armanii. General admission before 5:00 p.m. is J$2,000, while after 5:00 p.m. it will be J$2,500; children under 12 years old will be allowed free entrance.
