Tommie Tei Releases Debut Album “Progress”

Reggae recording artist Tommie Tei has officially released his debut album, “Progress”, which became available on May 22, 2026 through Young Kush Records and Tommie Tei Records.

Blending reggae and dancehall influences, the 11-track project signals a career-defining moment for Tommie Tei. While the artist has previously released several singles and a six-track EP, “Progress” represents his first full-length studio album.

The record primarily features new material, with only two previously shared songs included: “Still Can Make It” (track #4) and “Happy And Free” (track #7). Production duties were divided among Young Kush Records, responsible for nine tracks on the album, K-Jah Sound, which created “Happy And Free,” and Ghetto Life Records, which handled “Still Can Make It.” The overall project was mixed and mastered by Andre Green.

According to Tommie Tei, listeners have been responding positively to the album. “I am getting a very good response towards the album, persons are liking different songs, especially Work Harder and Happy And Free,” he said.

When asked what he hopes listeners will take away from the project, Tommie Tei pointed to the album’s title. “I would like listeners to think about the title of the album. The name of the project is what we all need in our day-to-day life.”

“Progress” is available now on all major digital streaming platforms.

Nijah Elaine Releases Lyric Video for “Good Time”

Emerging recording artist Nijah Elaine is carving out her own identity in music with the release of her fun-filled single, “Good Time.” Published on March 12, 2026, through WKS Records, the track inspires listeners to cherish life’s moments and enjoy time spent with friends and loved ones.

The official lyric video for “Good Time” was shared a few days ago. The straightforward visual pairs the song’s lyrics with striking images of Nijah Elaine against a backdrop of bright, colorful lights, enhancing the feel-good atmosphere of the track.

Nijah describes her musical style as a mix of reggae and dancehall, infused with her unique vibe. She aims to create music that listeners can dance to, unwind with, and relate to.

As the granddaughter of legendary musician and producer Willie Lindo and niece of acclaimed producer and artist KashieF LindoNijah acknowledges the expectations that can come with such a musical legacy. However, she views it as motivation while remaining committed to creating her own path and authentic sound.

Caribbean Gospel Fest comes to The Bronx on July 10th

Restoration Center Church and Shekinah Entertainment are bringing a lively celebration of Caribbean gospel music to New York City. The Caribbean Gospel Fest will take place on Friday, July 10th at 7 PM at the Co-Op City Community Center, located at 177 Dreiser Loop in The Bronx.

The evening will feature Minister Marvia Providence, Bishop Shawn Walker, Minister Lawayne, Minister Golda McFarlene, and Samuel Medas. Together, these ministers and performers bring a rich blend of Caribbean spirit and energy to the stage.

ONE SOUND: A Fine Arts Experience will take place on June 26 at The Gathering Place DC in Capitol Heights, Maryland, bringing together worshippers, creatives, choirs, musicians, dancers, and believers for an evening centered on faith and worship.

The event, which begins at 7:00 p.m. (doors open at 6:00 p.m.), will feature special guests Nadja Scott & Divine Anointing, Brittney Hall, Leah Clark Leach, Jeremiah Hicks, and JJ Hairston. Participating ministries include Impact One Church, Greater Mount Calvary Holy Church, and Reid Temple AME Church.

Admission and registration are free, and the event is open to the public.

Owings Mills to Host Free Afro Cultural Festival Headlined by Mr. Easy

Five Star Women of Color, Inc. is bringing a free, full-day celebration of African and Caribbean culture to the Baltimore area this summer. The Afro Cultural Festival — formerly known as the Afro Soul Festival — will take place on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 12 PM to 6 PM at New Town High School, located at 4931 New Town Blvd, Owings Mills, MD.

The event is headlined by reggae star Mr. Easy, who will be joined by Mr. Big Energy, Cana Baye Fall, Duafe, Image Band, Pitar, and KXMS. Musical juggling will be provided by DJ Triggah and Superstar DJ Taf.

Yellowman and Sika Rlion Confirmed for Festival d’Été in Paris

Veteran dancehall icon Yellowman will headline an evening of reggae music at Le Cabaret Sauvage in Paris, France, on July 10, 2026, as part of the venue’s Festival d’Été. Backed by The Upper Cut, the legendary entertainer will perform many of the songs that have made him one of reggae and dancehall’s most influential figures, including the classic hit “Zungguzungguguzungguzeng.”

Joining the lineup is rising Afro-Reggae artist Sika Rlion from Réunion Island, who will deliver a special DJ set. Known for blending Trap, Reggae, R&B and elements of traditional Maloya music, Sika Rlion has been gaining attention for her distinctive sound and bilingual lyrics in French and Creole.

The event, produced by Sauvage Productions, takes place from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Shaggy Brings “Yaad Live” to Central Park This Summer

Grammy-winning dancehall star Shaggy is taking his talents to one of New York City’s most iconic venues. The Jamaican-born entertainer will headline Shaggy’s Yaad Live alongside DJ Norie at Central Park’s SummerStage, with doors opening at 6PM and showtime beginning at 7PM on Thursday, July 9th.

This is a star-studded event with a lineup that includes Robin Thicke, Tanto Metro & Devonte, Rayvon, Noah Powa, NESTA, Amber Lee, Mathew Malcolm, and Shuga. Hosting duties will be handled by DJ Norie, Roxy Romeo, and Li’l Nat, with DJ sets from Tropical Blendz and Afrique keeping the energy alive throughout the night.

Shaggy’s Yaad Live is presented in association with Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage 40, The Ranch Entertainment, Shaggy‘s Boombastic Radio, and VP Records.
