Gospel artist Alicia Taylor will celebrate the release of her new album, Time and Chance, with a special live recording and album launch event on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 5:30 PM. The event will take place at Swallowfield Chapel, 9 Swallowfield Road, Kingston.

Ready For The World to Perform Live at City Winery Atlanta on Oct. 1

Ready For The World will bring their R&B, funk and soul sound to City Winery Atlanta on Thursday, October 1, 2026, with the performance scheduled to begin at 8:00 PM. Doors open at 6:30 PM.

Originally from Flint, Michigan, Ready For The World rose to prominence in 1985 with the release of “Oh Sheila,” which made chart history by reaching No. 1 simultaneously on Billboard’s R&B, Pop, Dance and Video charts. The group went on to gain international recognition, contribute to major film soundtracks and establish a catalog that continues to connect with audiences across generations.

Le’Andria Johnson to Headline Grambling State University’s 2026 Homecoming Kickoff

Grambling State University (GSU) will launch its 2026 Homecoming Week on Monday, September 28, with a special concert headlined by Grammy and Stellar Award-winning Gospel powerhouse Le’Andria Johnson. The event also marks the beginning of the university’s historic 125th “Multiversary” celebration.

The concert will take place at T.H. Harris Auditorium on Reed Street. Doors open at 6:00 PM, with the show scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM. Attendees should note that the auditorium is enforcing a strict clear bag policy. Tickets and registration are available through the official Grambling Homecoming Portal.

The kickoff concert launches a full week of Homecoming activities running through October 3. Highlights include the Official Homecoming Concert on Friday, October 2 at the Hobdy Assembly Center, followed by the Homecoming Parade along Main Street on Saturday, October 3 at 10:00 AM. The week will conclude with the G-Men taking on Alcorn State University at Eddie G. Robinson Memorial Stadium at 2:00 PM on October 3.

AGD Celebrates Senior Citizens’ Month with “Concert in the Courtyard”

The Accountant General’s Department (AGD) will host “Concert in the Courtyard,” a free musical event celebrating Senior Citizens’ Month, on Friday, September 25, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The afternoon of live music will take place in the AGD parking lot at 21 Dominica Drive in Kingston, and will feature performances by veteran reggae and lovers rock artist George Nooks, as well as winner of the JCDC 2026 Festival Song Competition, D’Burnz. The event will be hosted by broadcaster and media personality Dahlia Harris.

Admission is free, and attendees can look forward to soup and giveaways on the house. Additional parking will be available at the New Kingston Drive-In Cinema.

Resurgence: Night of Worship (Fort Washington on Oct. 2)

Resurgence: Night of Worship takes place on October 2 at 7 p.m. at the National Church of God, 6701 Bock Road in Fort Washington, Maryland. The evening features Todd Galberth, Jekalyn Carr, JJ Hairston & Youthful Praise, Kierra Sheard-Kelly, and Todd Dulaney.

The event is hosted in partnership with Prince George’s County Council leadership, Council Chair Krystal Oriadha (District 7) and Council Member Edward Burroughs III (District 8), underscoring the county’s interest in community-centered events that bring residents together.

Mr. Cool Returns To Canada After Productive Jamaica Visit

Reggae artist Mr. Cool has returned to Canada following a little over a month in Jamaica, where he attended to personal family matters while also advancing his music career.

During his time on the island, Mr. Cool filmed three music videos for his previously released songs “All Those Lies” and “Ibrahim Traore,” as well as his newest single, “They Don’t Want Us To Know.” All three videos were filmed by Maria Jackson 27 and are currently in the editing stage.

The visuals will be released individually over the coming months. Mr. Cool also plans to return to Jamaica before the end of the year for additional promotion and media appearances.

Carl Thomas Brings “The Sweet Escape” to Aurora on October 17

Carl Thomas will headline The Sweet Escape, a live concert on Saturday, October 17, at The Piazza, 85 Executive Drive in Aurora, Illinois.

Thomas will be joined by a lineup of R&B talent: Ro James, Nathan Palmer, Devon Culture, and Slique Jay Adams. DJ Lil John will provide the sounds throughout the evening, and Ramonski Luv and Amber Ali will host.
