When we hear the name Ras Shiloh, we more often than not think about his massive hit Are You Satisfied, published on the La La Bella Riddim in the 90s. Since then, Jamaicans within the reggae industry have adopted the Brooklyn-born vocalist and now see him as an original ‘yawdie.’ Subsequently, he has been featured on several projects by Jamaican music creatives (home and abroad). The latest is Tweezers, produced by the king of reggae basslines, Mr. Leroy Sibbles.
Sibbles did not hold back on the instrumental; he gave the singer a bouncy one-drop beat on which to record. As a matter of fact, when asked what inspired the song, Shiloh said, “Once I heard the riddim, I had to write something beautiful.” Tweezers is a catchy, rhythmic, rich reggae song that was written by both Ras Shiloh and his friend Michael O. Morgan.
At its core, this is a tune that encourages men to please and care for the women in their lives. “Nowadays when you hear people talking about women, it’s like they’re downgrading women, but we want to give positive vibes; all of us come from women,” says Ras Shiloh.
Tweezers, which is now available on all streaming platforms, was released on November 22nd by Bright Beam Music, the record label owned and operated by Leroy Sibbles.
