Watch the official video for Hopeton Lindo’s “Mi Selecta” ft. on Sly & Robbie’s “Zoom Dancehall”

Years ago, in an effort to create an uncomplicated dancehall rhythm, Sly Dunbar and his musical partner Robbie Shakespeare re-examined the formula that was crucial to their earlier success. After careful examination, they ended up building a beat that was later released as a 13-track compilation called “Zoom Dancehall.”

“Zoom Dancehall” went live on streaming platforms in late October of 2024 via Taxi Records and One Pop Music. It features Hopeton Lindo, Ambelique, Tanto Metro & Devonte, Hawkeye, Bryan Art, Seprano Silver, El Jamaiquino, Shayy Soprano, and Anthony Red Rose. Even though all the songs are great, one is becoming a favorite among reggae-dancehall DJs; that’s Hopeton Lindo‘s “Mi Selecta.”

“Mi Selecta” is literally a universal dubplate that can be used by any sound system or DJ whilst in the midst of a clash or during a regular juggling session. Hopeton Lindo drives the point home by shooting part of the music video at Stone Love‘s headquarters during one of their world-famous dancehall parties.

Because the visual preceded the release of the compilation, and with so many things happening in the industry, many people may have missed it, so Hopeton Lindo and his team are resharing the official video for “Mi Selecta.” The video can be viewed on Sly & Robbie‘s official YouTube channel, and the audio is available on all streaming platforms.

Hezron Delivers Soulful Ballad For Black History Month “Kuja Nyumbani”

In keeping with the annual Black History Month celebration, singer, songwriter, and guitarist Hezron, in collaboration with Tad’s Record, releases “Kuja Nyumbani.” Kuja Nyumbani is a Swahili phrase that translates to ‘come home’ in English. However, Hezron, being the unexceptionable creative that he is, added a twist to the name of his song by using the subtitle “I want to go Home.”

“Kuja Nyumbani” was first shared in 2022 on Hezron‘s “M.O.A.M. (Man On a Mission)” 17-track album. The decision to publish “Kuja Nyumbani” now is very timely, and it is reassuring to Black History enthusiasts, Pan-Africanists, etc., who have become concerned that the observance of Reggae Month in February has diminished the commemoration of the Black story, which is also done at this time of year.

Hezron is a deep thinker, skillful writer, and masterful vocalist. All three can be heard on this very strong, extremely powerful record. What’s more, in anticipation of the song being re-released to streaming platforms today, February 7th, 2025, Tad’s Record uploaded the official video to their YouTube channel a few days ago. The visual is just as compelling as the audio.

Veteran Guyanese Reggae Artist Winston Irie Shares His Faith In New Single “Unto Thee O’Lord”

In the late 1970s, Winston Sumner, known publicly as Winston Irie, migrated from Guyana to Brooklyn, New York. Once in the U.S., he connected with like minded individuals and began sharing his love for music by way of live performances. His stint on the live circuit was followed by him recording and releasing various songs that have always, for the most part, been socially conscious or highly spiritual. His latest single, “Unto Thee O’Lord,” is arguably his most religious record to date; this is according to those who have heard it.

“Unto Thee O’Lord” is a reggae-ska tune that was produced by Bernard Joseph, who is affectionately referred to as IOBIDerrick Barnett, and Winston Irie. It is literally a praise and worship track that highlights Winston‘s Ethiopian Orthodox faith. In fact, when asked what inspired the record, he said, “I was inspired by the Ethiopian Orthodox teachings of Psalms and Scriptures.”

Winston Irie has been actively involved in Apostolic Christianity for many years. He was drawn to this way of life by members of his family, teachings of the former Emperor of Ethiopia Haile Selassie I, Jamaican activist Marcus Mosiah Garvey, and Jamaican singer, songwriter, and guitarist Robert Nesta Marley.

“Unto Thee O’Lord” is a beautiful, melodious tune that can be streamed and downloaded on all major music platforms. It was shared on the 4/20 Records label.

KashieF Lindo Shares 1st Single For 2025 “One Breath”

KashieF Lindo, the vocalist with the golden voice, has just shared his first record for 2025. The song, titled “One Breath,” went live on streaming platforms on Tuesday, February 4th, and it comes to us courtesy of the Florida-based roots label, HeavyBeat Records.

Produced by the late Everald Metcalf“One Breath” is a motivational reggae record. The lyrics, which were penned by Willie Lindo, succinctly encourage listeners to relax and refrain from becoming overwhelmed with the unexpected and sometimes unwanted tortuous path life takes. In lieu of becoming anxious, Lindo suggests that we modify our mood and trust the Most High.

The track is as soothing as it is inspirational. In addition to KashieF and Willie, who did the drum programming and guitars, respectively, Robbie Shakespeare (bass) and Robbie Lyn (piano, organ, and keyboards) also contributed to the rhythm.

The team at HeavyBeat Records will be releasing the official lyric video imminently, but for now, the audio can be streamed/downloaded on all major music platforms.
