BET Experience returns to the city of Los Angeles on June 5-8, 2025. The event will feature live concerts, competitions, comedy sets, day parties, and more. The various presentations will all lead up to the highly anticipated BET Awards, which airs on the network on June 9th.
Among the artists confirmed for BETX is international reggae-dancehall star Buju Banton, who will perform at Hollywood Palladium on Thursday, June 5th.
On April 18, veteran singer, songwriter, and producer Hopeton Lindo introduced one of his most profound tracks to date. The compelling roots reggae song, “Times That We’re Living In,” dives into the numerous global issues we face, all while seeking divine intervention.
Creating this song was a spontaneous process for Lindo. He describes how, during a studio session with co-producer Syl Gordon of Cell Block Records, the riddim inspired him to approach the microphone and perform straight from his heart, without pre-written lyrics.
“Times That We’re Living In” features contributions from drummer George Miller, bassist Donald Dennis, and keyboardist Paul Crossdale, all key members of The Firehouse Crew. Shauna “ShaunaDazzle” Dixon lends her talent to the background vocals, while Gordon mixed the track, which was then mastered by the Heavybeat Crew.
This impactful single is accessible for download on major streaming services, including Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, Amazon, and Pandora. It comes to us courtesy of Hopeton Lindo‘s own Irie Pen Records.
Inspired by his 2023 album Colors of Royal, Julian Marley has announced that he will be going on tour with his band, The Uprising, this summer. Aarhus Reggae Festival, an acclaimed music event in Denmark, is set to return on August 15 and 16, 2025. This year’s presentation will be held at Voxhall, located at Vester Allé 15 in the Jutland peninsula’s east coast city of Aarhus. With a commitment to celebrating and preserving the authenticity of Jamaican music within Europe, the festival has evolved into a highly anticipated annual affair. It offers a vibrant showcase of reggae, dancehall, and the influential sound-system culture that spawned these genres.
The 2025 lineup includes a curated selection of performers and selectors, each recognized for their significant contributions to reggae and dancehall. That said, Reggae Night, on August 16th, will present live band sets with Chuck Fenda, Leroy Gibbons, Kass Smith, Teacha Dee, and Don Tippa.
Preceding Reggae Night is Dancehall Night on August 15th. It features veteran Danish dancehall artist Pharfar, who will be joined by Jamaica’s Exile Di Brave and Karamanti. Together they will deliver dynamic toasting sessions supported by DJ Riddim Fex and other top-tier selectors. Dancehall Night will also showcase professional dancers Chrisicon and the Iconic Crew.
Beyond the live shows, attendees can explore Culture Village, which offers Jamaican cuisine, handcrafted jewelry, fashion, and arts & crafts. Furthermore, a Family Friendly Zone by the riverside that provides face painting, acoustic sets, and other engaging activities will be accessible to all patrons.
