We are living in serious times! In 2024 a minimum of 64 countries – plus the European Union – will be holding national elections, and contending with all the unpleasantness that goes along with campaigning and choosing leadership. Additionally, people all over the world are struggling with inflation, wars, and everything that goes along with both. It is with this backdrop that reggae lovers are receiving Richie Spice‘s new tune, Come Dance The Night Away. 

Throughout his career Richie Spice has always been able to take the temperature of the room and create the right song for the moment. To our benefit, he has done so again. On a steady reggae rhythm the Rasta man invites you the listener to “Come Dance The Night Away and live your life today.” In his distinctive singing style he goes on to say that everyone deserves to be happy and have a good time.

As he’s done in the past, executive producer Josh Harris called on Nikki Burt for harmonies, Jallanzo for guitar, and Santa Davis for drums, while he added the bass, keyboard, and samples. Mixing and mastering engineers were Tommi Tikkenen and Earle Holder. 

Come Dance The Night Away is out now, and can be streamed and/or downloaded from all major music platforms. It’s on the Big Feet Records label.

Last November, several days after Gaza resumed its armed conflict with the state of Israel, reggae artist Miriam Simone – in collaboration with producer Paul Scott of Sound System Club Ltd. – shared the single Stop The Shooting. On a modern mix of Bob Marley‘s Crazy Baldhead rhythm, the Surinamese vocalist who resides in The Netherlands made an impassioned plea to the citizens of earth to stop killing each other. 

“I hope to touch the hearts of those who are a part of the war and those who are driven by violence. Because we are all children of creation and I cannot imagine what evil can come into mankind to get so heartless to hurt another human being.” The preceding is Miriam Simone‘s answer when asked what she would like listeners to take away from Stop The Shooting.

Stop The Shooting can be streamed and/or downloaded from iTunes, Deezer, Spotify, Apple Music etc. It will also be featured on Simone‘s upcoming, not yet titled EP, which is being produced by Paul Scott for Sound System Club Ltd.

Dollarman‘s new lovers-rock single, We Belong, which was officially released at the beginning of the year (on January 1), has now entered The Foundation Radio Network NY Charts, which is curated by Clinton Lindsay. The fact that it was added to such a popular music chart means that We Belong is now considered to be one of the top 30 reggae songs in and around the New York tri-state area.

For those not familiar with Dollarman, he is an accomplished songwriter, producer, and recording artist who hails from Grenada. He migrated to the United States at a young age, and have been involved in music ever since. He got his big break in 2006 when he connected with French producer Bob Sinclar. That union resulted in him being featured on two international hit songs: Rock This Party and Sounds Of Freedom.Rock This Party went gold approximately five weeks after it was released, and it also sat at #1 on the Billboard Music Chart, while Sounds Of Freedom made it to #3.

Although the music industry has changed significantly since then, Dollarman and the co-producer of We Belong – Bernard Joseph, also known as OBI – are both working towards achieving the equivalent of a gold record with We Belong.

Bolinas-based Epicenter Sound will present a night of live roots reggae music with Lutan Fyah, Teflon Young King, and the Purity Attack Band. The concert will be at the Bolinas Community Center – 14 Wharf Road – in Bolinas, California on Friday, February 23rd.

This is an all ages event that’s scheduled to begin at 8:00 PM local time. Early bird tickets, which are going for $25, can be purchased on Eventbrite. It will be $30 at the door.
