Aarhus’ Annual Bob Marley Celebration Returns This Year!

After taking a hiatus, which was due in part to the pandemic, Jam Link International – the company that’s responsible for Aarhus’ annual Bob Marley Celebration – is now ready to resume the show on a more consistent basis. Having said that, the 2024 staging will be presented at Volume Village (located at Thomas Koppels Gade 201, 8000 Aarhus C) on Saturday, February 24, with a running time of 21:30 – 03:30.

As of this writing, the organizers have confirmed several of the region’s top-tier reggae selectors: DJ Willy, Denali Sound & Crew, as well as veteran guest Booyaka Sound from Odense, who is now celebrating their 30th anniversary. They’re also promising to announce the full and complete lineup at the end of January.

Jam Link Intl.‘s Bob Marley Celebration was first presented in 2015. Both local – Europe based – and international (Jamaica and other Caribbean nationals) reggae performers have graced its stage. Furthermore, this event has become one of Aarhus’ most anticipated reggae concerts scheduled in the first quarter, and that is regardless of the lineup.

New Music From I-Wayne “Domestic War”

Roots reggae singer I-Wayne has kicked off 2024 with new music. On January 1st, the Rastafarian performer – in collaboration with Life Glow Records – shared a powerful tune called Domestic War. On the track, I-Wayne shines a light on the unfortunate rise in abusive relationships.

The official video, which was just uploaded to his YouTube channel, further amplifies the seriousness of this issue, as well as I-Wayne‘s strong argument against behaviors that lead to domestic violence. If you have not yet seen it, click here or on the image above to check it out, and remember to like, comment and share.

Kayafyahouse’s 4th Studio Album “Mr Herbsman” Is Out Now!

After some unfortunate setbacks, Holland-based reggae singer Kayafyahouse is feeling elated about the release of his fourth studio album, Mr Herbsman. The eleven-track reggae project – which was recorded and mastered in Jamaica – went live on all streaming platforms earlier today, January 9th, 2024.

With contributions from some of the best musicians in the reggae industry, Mr Herbsman is already being lauded for its exceptional production quality. Sly Dunbar, Robbie Shakespeare, Dalton Browne, Robbie Lyn, Dean Fraser, Sydney ‘Bongo Billy’ Watson, Melbourne ‘Dusty’ Miller, Donald ‘Danny’ Dennis, Mitchum ‘Khan’ Chin, and Paul ‘Wrongmove’ Crosdale have all added their respective skill set to the LP.

What’s more, it was recorded at various studios in Jamaica: Anchor, Penthouse, One Pop, Tad’s Recordings, Mixing Lab, and Home Grown Muzik Recording, and was mastered by Christopher Daley in Kingston. And although Kayafyahouse is both the executive and creative producer, he credits Dean Fraser and the Fire House Crew for aiding him in the arrangements.

It is clear that no expense was spared on this body of work. It is well produced with relaxing roots-reggae and dub rhythms, as well as lyrics centered on relationships, social issues, the reggae genre, and life in general. Kudos to Toney Owens the 1st – Kayafyahouse‘s manager – who brought the singer to Jamaica in 2013, so as to connect him to all the aforementioned accomplished reggae figures.

Warrior King Sends A Strong Message To “People Of This World”

On his latest single, People of this WorldWarrior King addresses the numerous wars happening in various parts of the earth and offers his perspective, leaning heavily on his Rastafarian faith. He sings:

As long as the strong keep oppressing the weak
as long as injustice is not made obsolete
as long as there is silence from those who can speak
there will be wars all over the world
as long as the truth is substituted with lies
as long as there’s people stealing others birthrights
as long as racism exist in the earth
there will be wars all over the world

People of this World was produced by Josh Harris, with support from his team at Big Feet Records. The song credits are as follows: lead and harmony vocals were done by Warrior King; additional backing vocals sung by Rose Barnett; bass, Keyboards and samples by Josh Harris; guitar by Jallanzo, and drums by Santa Davis. The mixing and mastering engineers were Tommi Tikkenen and Earle Holder Mastering, respectively.

The song was released on Friday, January 5th, and as such, is now available on all streaming platforms.

Turbulence Stung Them At Sting & Is Now Ready For The “Jamaica Reggae Retreat”

If you have not yet signed up for the Jamaica Reggae Retreat, which is scheduled for April 18–22, 2024, the organizers are hoping that Turbulence‘s performance at the recent staging of Sting encourages you to do so quickly, as you will have VIP access to a concert at which he is the headliner.

The general consensus among Jamaicans who have seen the show, is that Turbulence (The Future) was one of the best performers at Sting 2023. The Rastafarian singer delivered a short but spicy set which had the crowd going from the moment he and his entourage walked on the stage, to when they left. Interestingly, Turbulence didn’t even scratch the surface of his extensive catalogue, instead, he gave the audience what they came for: a taste of his lyrical mastery.

In addition to the live concert, the Jamaica Reggae Retreat will also feature an all inclusive resort in Montego Bay, trips to Dunns River Falls and Bob Marley Museum, free access to Doctor’s Cave beach, Smoke Shop visits on the Montego Bay strip, Health & Wellness sessions, and much more.

The early bird option of $1,750 USD for a single occupancy, and $2,995 USD for a double occupancy is still available. Furthermore, you can book with as little as 10% down, and pay the balance in monthly installments.
