Newark Caribbean Festival 2025

The Newark Caribbean Festival returns for its second year on Saturday, August 16, 2025, promising a vibrant celebration of island culture in the heart of the city. Hosted by the Newark City Parks Foundation in partnership with TEMPO Networks, the festival will take place from 2 PM to 9 PM at Harriet Tubman Square and is free and open to all.

It’s a day built for families, music lovers, and anyone ready to soak in the energy of Caribbean rhythms, cuisine, and community. Headliners include soca legend Denise “Saucy Wow” Belfon, Rupee—best known for his global hit “Tempted to Touch”—and Capella Grey, whose West Indian roots fuel the chart-topping sound behind “Gyalis.”

Bling Dawg’s Birthday Bash

On Friday, August 22, Nyam Cash and IZM Entertainment will join forces with Bling Dawg to present his birthday show and dance. The event will take place at Heroes Lounge, located at 3094 N Stemmons Freeway in Dallas, Texas.

Mr. Lexx, DJ Splackavelli, DJ Romie, DJ Brian, and DJ Queen Agnes will all be present for the celebration. It will start at 9 p.m. and continue until 3 a.m. the following morning.

Dawn Penn Scheduled for Consecutive Performances in Bahrain and Dubai in August 2025

On Friday, August 8th, 2025, acclaimed Jamaican reggae artist Dawn Penn will perform at Kingston 10, located within the Elite Crystal Hotel in Manama, Bahrain. This event is part of the Jamaica Independence Celebration and will feature DJs Shola, Timo, and Smilez Jomex, with MC Kobole and host Epic also participating.

The following day, August 9th, Ms. Penn will headline another Jamaica Independence Party at Zeus Restaurant & Lounge, situated in the JA Ocean View Hotel in Dubai. Presented by Xclusive Entertainment, the event will showcase performances by Jezz De Don Dada, DJ Niffer, DJ Elly, MC Dreds, MC Smiley, DJ Kenny King, DJ Icon, DJ Teddy Jam, and Sir Lenox.

Dawn Penn is a renowned reggae vocalist from Jamaica, widely recognized for her 1994 international hit single “You Don’t Love Me (No No No).” Though she initially began her career during the rocksteady era between 1967 and 1969, her enduring influence in reggae music has solidified her status as a respected artist worldwide.

Jamaica Ole Time Fair Returns to Celebrate Independence and Emancipation in Miramar

The beloved Jamaica Ole Time Fair is back and bigger than ever, bringing vibrant island culture, music, and community spirit to South Florida. This free, family-friendly celebration will take place on Saturday, August 2nd, from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at the Miramar Regional Park Amphitheater, located at 16801 Miramar Parkway, FL 33027.

The event honors Jamaica’s Independence and Emancipation, showcasing the richness of Jamaican heritage through live performances, traditional cuisine, and cultural exhibitions.

This year’s lineup will bring the rhythm of the island to life. It features Tanto Metro & Devonte, Freddie McGregor, Chino McGregor, Warrior Love Band, Jay EDGE, Patrick Roach, and Ernie Smith.

The festival offers something for everyone. There will be a vibrant Coronation Farmers Market with authentic Jamaican goods; Cultural Showcase highlighting traditional art, dance, and storytelling; and a fun-filled Kids Zone with activities for the entire family.

Join Mr. Lexx at Tropical Thursdays on the Water This Week

Selectors Noah Powa and DJ Polish present Tropical Thursdays on the Water, a special pre-Jamaica Independence celebration featuring classic hits from the 1990s and 2000s.

The event will take place aboard the Paddle Wheel Queen, departing from The World’s Fair Marina in Flushing Bay, Queens, New York, on Thursday, July 31st. Boarding begins at 9:00 PM, with sailing scheduled for 10:00 PM.

Dancehall artist Mr. Lexx will deliver a live performance, showcasing popular tracks such as “Cook,” “Video Light,” “Bounce,” and “No Problem,” among others. Noah Powa and DJ Polish will be joined by deejays Kreepa and Jus’K on the turntables. Tickets are available for purchase on Eventbrite.

Winston Irie to Perform at ‘Tuesdays at Main Beach’ on July 29th

The fourth annual summer edition of ‘Tuesdays at Main Beach’ has been successfully underway for several weeks, continuing its tradition of uniting the community through free live music. Presented by The East Hampton Foundation and supported by various sponsors, this concert series offers a vibrant platform for local and regional artists.

The events take place every Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at 101 Ocean Avenue, East Hampton, New York. Weekly attendance typically ranges between 2,000 and 5,000 attendees.

On Tuesday, July 29th, East Hampton audiences will welcome Winston Irie, a seasoned reggae artist originally from Guyana and now based in New York. He will be accompanied by the Selective Security Band. Winston Irie is a well-regarded figure in the local music scene, known for his quality productions, including his recent release, “Unto The O’Lord.”

Sone G, the esteemed gospel-reggae artist, is setting his sights on a Grammy Award with the release of his new single, “Rescue Me.” Launched on Friday, July 25th, this inspirational track is described by Sone G as a “direct deposit from The Almighty.” He reflects on the creative process behind the song, attributing its profound resonance not merely to artistic skill but to what he calls “Divine inspiration.”
