Kudos To Questlove On His Oscar Win! (@questlove)

Despite all the hoopla surrounding the Oscars on the weekend, there was a very good moment for black music that persons within the culture should not miss and/or forget. That’s the moment when Questlove‘s Summer of Soul won in the Documentary Feature category.

Questlove directed the 2021 Summer of Soul documentary, which was about the legendary 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival that celebrated African-American music and culture and promoted black pride and unity. Congrats Quest!

Wande Drops New Single “They Didn’t Know II”

Wande, Reach Records’ first female, has just dropped a new single titled They Didn’t Know II. The hip-hop track is a follow up to her 2016 song with the same name.

Wayne Wonder To Perform At Flamingo Cantina In Austin On April 16 (@Waynewonder25)

The man with the golden voice – Wayne Wonder – is scheduled to perform at Flamingo Cantina, located at 515 East 6th Street in Austin, Texas on Saturday, April 16. The show will also feature other guests artists and selectors.

Early bird tickets are now available for only $20 USD, while it will be $25 at the door. Most importantly, this is a 21 and older event.

Marlon Asher Confirmed For Moe’s Alley On April 16

On Saturday, April 16th, Marlon Asher – the Trinidadian reggae singer who rose to prominence with his first hit song Ganja Farmer many years ago – will perform at Moe’s Alley.

The show which is slated to begin at 8pm (local time) will also feature The Rudians and DJ Spleece. Moe’s Alley is located at 1535 Commercial Way in Santa Cruz, California.

This is a 21 and over show. Any ticket holder unable to present valid identification indicating that they are at least 21 years of age will not be admitted in, and will not be eligible for a refund.

Nadine Sutherland has truly reclaimed her position in reggae-dancehall. Before and even during the pandemic, the reggae singer whose early career was nurtured by Bob Marley was steadily releasing captivating singles and making all the right public appearances.

Now that the pandemic seems to be behind us and the entertainment industry has reopened, Miss Sutherland is taking it up a notch. She just dropped a powerful song and videoQueen – courtesy of Oyin Records and VPAL Music.

The record is already being hailed as one of her best and the video, which highlights several strong women, is equally stunning.

New Lovers-Rock Reggae From Lukie D “When You Love” (@bigfeetrecords)

Recording artist Lukie D, who is also a member of the vocal group L.U.S.T. (with fellow singers Thriller U, Singing Melody and Tony Curtis), has a brand new single that was released today; March 25th. The heartfelt lovers-rock reggae song is titled When You Love, and it comes courtesy of the Big Feet Records label.

All who are familiar with his music will affirm that Lukie D is among the best in the reggae-dancehall industry, this is as it relates to vocal delivery. This fact is evident on When You Love, where he outlines what a man should do when he loves a woman.

As is the case with all songs coming from the Big Feet camp, the production of When You Love was a team effort. Josh Harris – the executive producer – played the keyboard and bass; Jallanzo played the guitar and Santa Davis did the drums. It was mixed by Umberto Echo and mastered by Earle Holder
