J. Cole’s “Dreamville Festival” Is Set For April 2nd & 3rd (@Dreamville)

Founded and curated by Grammy Award-winning and multi-platinum hip-hop artist J. Cole, Dreamville Festival is one of the most popular artist-led music festivals in the country.

On April 2nd and 3rd patrons will witness performances from some of the biggest names in music: J. Cole, Lil Baby, Kehlani, JID, Ari Lennox, Ja Rule, Ashanti, DJ Drama, Lil Wayne, Jeezy, T.I., WizKid, T-Pain, The Hics, Wale, Moneybaggyo, Bas, BIA and EARTHGANG.

On Thursday, April 28, the Buckhead Theatre – 3110 Roswell Rd NE – in Atlanta, Georgia will host three R&B legends: Tony! Toni! Toné!, Dru Hill & Keke Wyatt. The Forever R&B concert will kick off at 7pm (local time).

Soca Star Blaxx Dies From Covid-19

This is clearly a bad week for Caribbean music. We are now learning that on Monday, March 28, Trinidad and Tobago entertainer Dexter ‘Blaxx’ Stewart died at the Arima Hospital. He was apparently hospitalized with covid-19 complications and unfortunately succumbed to it.

Blaxx was the lead vocalist of De All Stars band. He was only 59 years of age.

Jamaica’s Reggae Industry Shaken By The Death Of Tabby Diamond

This morning – March 30th – Jamaicans woke up to the news that legendary reggae artist, Donald ‘Tabby’ Shaw, who is the lead singer for the Mighty Diamonds, has passed away. What makes this devastating news harder to swallow is learning the manner in which he died.

It is being reported that Tabby Diamond was killed in a drive-by shooting that occurred on McKinley Crescent in St Andrew. Another man, Owen Beckford, also died in the same incident.

Duane Stephenson Booked To Perform At The Isery In Roatan On Easter Weekend

On Saturday, April 16, veteran reggae artist Duane Stephenson will perform at the infamous Isery in Roatan. Roatan is located in the Western Caribbean, approximately 35 miles north of mainland Honduras.

As for the Isery, this was a night club built by one of El Chapo’s right hand man; but it was unfortunately shut down because of some sketchy reasons. It is now used as a cultural center and tourist attraction; and this is where Duane Stephenson‘s easter weekend show will be held. The Jamaican singer will be supported by DJ T-Mensio and DJ Dollins.

Leaf Of Life Spreads Love With His New Reggae EP “Loving You”

Released in mid February, Loving You is the latest EP from Jamaica born, U.S. based Rastafarian roots artist Leaf Of Life.

The project is a five-track collection of Rastafarian love songs, all produced by Leaf Of Life and shared via his label: Haile Cush RecordsLoving You has two collaborations. Ninsme, who hails from the African island of Mauritius, collaborates with Leaf on track #2 (Your Love Is So Amazing) and Chrisbaby – an Oakland MC – is featured on track #4 (Goddess) with a smooth rap style. 

Leaf Of Life and his team have been getting encouraging feedback about this EP, and as a result, will be releasing some spin-off records from it. A remix of Goddess will be shared on April 1st in honor of Empress Menen’s birthday. Additionally, the acoustic, dub and instrumental versions of Wake Up – track #1 – will be published on April 8th.
