Released a few days ago, “Every Nubian Is A Star” is the latest reggae contribution from Jahsolidrock Music. The song, which should appropriately be identified as an authentic roots-reggae track, is performed by both Mutabaruka and Earl Sixteen.

On Friday, July 24th, Oneness Records officially released the highly anticipated new album from Jamaican reggae ambassador, Luciano. The project is titled “The Answer” and it has eleven tracks, four of which are collaborations.

Florida based reggae label, Upstairs Music, is sharing their project “The Beauty Of The Night,” which is a two-track reggae rhythm. It features a beautiful lovers-rock ballad from veteran reggae singer Boris Gardiner, as well as an instrumental track from the gifted saxophonist Yishka.
“The Beauty Of The Night” is co-written and co-produced by Gardiner and Danny Breakenridge. Boris also arranged the song and played bass, supported by Donavan Palmer on keyboards and drum programming, Sydney Thorpe on synthesizer, Dwight Pinkney on rhythm and lead guitars, with backing vocals by Althea Hewitt, Sandy Stewart and Anna-Kim Myers.
Taken from his latest album, “Gospel Truth,” Derrick Scott‘s current single, “Some Preacher Nowadays,” though controversial, is accurate!
In the intro, Scott makes it clear that he is not talking about anyone in particular (“mi naa tro no stone”) but that the gospel must be rooted in honesty and not deception. He then goes on to shed light on the fact that many Ministers of the Gospel are there for their own selfish ambitions as opposed to carrying out the will of God.
“Some Preacher Nowadays” is a reggae song with a laid-back, easy going, delightful sound, that is guaranteed to captivate its listener. Musicians that contributed to the track are: Paul Douglas (drums), Robbie Shakespeare (bass), Kashief Lindo and Lenny (keyboards), Willie Lindo (guitars), John Erinosho (sax); with background vocals by Susan Sultry and Shauna Dazzle. The song was recorded and mixed at Heavybeat Studio, with production credits going to Derrick Scott for his own DScott Music.

It is being reported that Neville Livingston, better known as Bunny Wailer, is currently hospitalized. Apparently the reggae icon is fighting complications related to a stroke he suffered earlier.
The entire team at MJE is wishing Jah B a speedy recovery and we are keeping him and his loved ones in our thoughts.
And the winner is… “I Am A Jamaican” by Buju Banton.
Since it was announced earlier in the year that several established artists have entered the 2020 Festival Song Competition, there were some opposition from persons who felt that the platform should be reserved for new or emerging talents. Those talks quickly disappeared once the masses heard all the songs.
The fact is that the more known artists did not assume that their name recognition would give them the prize. Instead, they contributed quality records that celebrated Jamaica and its people just as the younger talents did.
Fast forward to where we are now, at the end of July, and the public have decided that Buju Banton‘s “I Am A Jamaican” is the best among this year’s finalists.
