Lutan Fyah Issues Warning In New Song “Nah Sleep” (@bigfeetrecords)

“Tell yu say the world inna trouble set speed,
tell yu say Jah busy but him nah sleep;
Di system is a fake so mi kick it dung straight under feet,
Jah busy but him nah sleep.”

The preceding are words echoed by recording artist Lutan Fyah on his newest single: Nah Sleep. This song is aptly described as thought-provoking because of the cautionary advice it offers. “Tell yu say the world inna trouble”; is a factual statement that everyone – regardless of their political persuasion, religious beliefs etc. – agrees with. Where we may differ is with the second line in that stanza: “tell yu say Jah busy but him nah sleep.” This is because we each practice our own theology, with some choosing atheism or agnosticism instead.

What Lutan Fyah – who is a committed Rastafarian – did on this track, is remind us that we will each be held accountable for our actions, whatever they may be, and whatever dogmas we subscribe to. The lines shared in the first paragraph were taken from the chorus; in the verse he goes into more details without getting too specific. Click here to watch the Lyric Video.

His message, though weighty, is easily digested on the groovy reggae rhythm done by the team at Big Feet Records. CEO and owner Josh Harris played both bass and keyboard, Santa Davis played drums and Jallanzo added the lead guitar. Nikki Burt did the backing vocals, and it was mixed and mastered by Tommi Tikkenen and Earle Holder, respectively.

Nah Sleep, which is on the Big Feet Records label, is out now on all streaming platforms.

L.U.S.T. Announces Silver Anniversary Tour

Formed in 1997, Jamaica’s reggae singing quartet L.U.S.T. – which comprises of vocalists Lukie D, Thriller U, Singing Melody and Tony Curtis – is preparing to launch a Silver Anniversary Tour to commemorate their 25th jubilee. With an outstanding repertoire of chart-topping songs, L.U.S.T. is guaranteed to have any audience: whether young or old, local or international, rocking all the way through their performances. The highly anticipated tour is aimed at music lovers in Canada, The United States, Europe, Jamaica and the Caribbean.

The name L.U.S.T. is an acronym for Love, Understanding, Sensitivity and Trust, words that can be used to describe the collective and their music. Lukie D, who is credited as the brainchild for the group, says the family vibe has kept them together through the years. He explains: “We are a family; we have known each other for a long time. The family thing has kept us together, and of course we put our egos aside. This, along with the respect for each other and the great musical talent within the group is the secret behind our longevity. Jamaica needs us, there are no great singing groups around so we as L.U.S.T. plan to keep this forever.”

Thriller U, Singing Melody, Lukie D and Tony Curtis each have a distinct vocal style that they bring to the group, and when the members set out to record new music, each one adds a specific flavor to the session. It is their variances that make the group so unique and allows the partnership to work.

L.U.S.T. rose to prominence after the members performed at the MIDEM 97 festival in France.  That year they scored a number one hit on the local charts with Sweetness Of Your Love (produced by Bankeylous Productions). Subsequent hits followed; two that must be mentioned are You’re The Inspiration and Just As I Am. In 1998, they made history when they won five awards at the Jamaica Music Industry Awards: Best New Artist, Best Live Performance (Group), Best Vocal Performance (Group), etc. The ensemble also took home two Binns Music Awards.

In 2019, L.U.S.T. performed at one of the most anticipated shows in years: the Buju Banton ‘Long Walk to Freedom’ concert at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica; and again, in Queens Savannah Park, Trinidad. That same year they got together at Big Yard Studios and performed a nearly one-hour freestyle set for BBC Radio 1xtra. This was an iconic moment that solidified their place among the elites in reggae music.

Have You Seen The Official Video For “Fall In Love” By Ginjah? (@GINJAHMUSIC @Tadsrecord)

All lights are flashing green for reggae’s soul man Ginjah and the imprint that has been powering his recent releases: Tad’s Record Inc.

Approximately one month ago they shared Fall In Love, a melodious, adoring tune that immediately took off, and is now dominating reggae airwaves. As soon as it was released it landed on the iTunes Reggae Charts in the United Kingdom; and it has just entered South Florida’s Top 25 Reggae Chart. Once they realized that they’re sitting on a hit, Ginjah, the team at Tad’s Record and the song’s producer, Tomique Williams (from Berta Records), fast-tracked the production of the official video.

That said, the visuals for Fall In Love, which were directed, shot and edited by Kenny Gray and his crew, were released a few days ago. It is worth noting that Kenny Gray is also credited for These Arms‘ video, another captivating track shared by Ginjah and Tad’s Record Inc.
