Miriam Simone Returns To Radio!

Recording artist Miriam Simone, who in 2018 began hosting a popular reggae radio program in Amsterdam, is heading back to broadcasting! The Rastafarian roots vocalist will return to the Sweet Meditation show, which airs on Caribbean 107.9 FM, this coming Monday, February 26th. Persons residing outside of The Netherlands are invited to listen online via Radio Rakoki.

As it relates to what listeners can expect, Simone said the following: “after a lot of reggae music, interviews, history and teachings of his majesty shared on earlier episodes it’s time go upward with sweet meditation. Introducing you to “the higher chambers”. I am ready to dive in to the mathematics of the flower of life.”

Doing her radio show will not halt or limit in anyway the promotion of her single, Stop The Shooting, as it will be featured on an upcoming EP being worked on by Paul Scott of Sound System Club LtdStop The Shooting can be streamed and/or downloaded from iTunes, Deezer, Spotify, Amazon, and all other digital music platforms.

Everton Blender & Others For ‘Equinox 24’

On Sunday, March 31st, it’s all about Equinox 24 at The Garden (4340 N State Road 7) in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida. This is a live band show that will see Everton Blender, Uton G, Lady Tia, Ikal, Isha Blender, and others taking the stage. The aforementioned performers will be backed by the Code Red Band, with additional support from Jah Steve and the Counteract Band.

TC Flexx from Flexx FM, and Shuga Wayne from Roots FM have both been confirmed as hosts; and DJ Toots will be on hand to ensure that the music never stops. Anyone planning to attend should know that there will be a $25 entrance fee at the gate.

The ‘Reggae Revolutions’ Concert Set For March 10th In Florida

Several reggae acts will gather at Club M2 Miami (1235 Washington Ave, Miami Beach, FL) on Sunday, March 10th for the Reggae Revolutions Concert. Osbourne, Biggs & Andy For The London International Ska Festival

The thirty-sixth edition of The London International Ska Festival will be staged at different locations in London, UK on Easter weekend, March 29th and 30th.

On day one, the festive occasion will kick off at 1:00 PM with Johnny Osbourne, Barry Biggs, and Winston Groovy, performing on the world famous Paddle steamer Dixie Queen – London’s largest luxury boat – sailing from the Tower Millennium Pier.

Jamaica’s Governor-General Announces 24-hour Entertainment Zone

During his 2024/2025 Throne Speech in the the House of Representatives on Thursday, February 15, Jamaica’s Governor-General, His Excellency the Most Honorable Sir Patrick Allen made the following statement.

To further enhance the country’s excellence in entertainment, the Portmore-based JamWorld Entertainment Complex is being renovated for the facility to be the first 24-hour Entertainment Zone, to address the need for designated entertainment areas.

Sharon Marley Links With Big Youth For “Steppah”

Because we’ve become so accustomed to hearing music from the Marley brothers, it is always refreshing when we get songs from one of the sisters; infrequent as it may be.

A few days ago, Sharon Marley blessed us with an unusual but beautiful lovers-rock tune called Steppah. Done in collaboration with the living legend Big Youth, the timely record went live on all streaming platforms just before valentine’s day, with the official video dropping approximately seventy-two hours later.

Empress Black Omolo Confirmed For Aarhus’ Bob Marley Celebration

Jam Link International, the organization that’s responsible for Aarhus’ Annual Bob Marley Celebration, has announced the full lineup for the 2024 staging. The event, which will take place on February 24th at Volume Village – Thomas Koppels Gade 201 – in Aarhus, Denmark, will deliver a mix of live music, sound-system juggling, and a digital exhibition centered on reggae music.

This year’s main headliner is Kenyan reggae artist Empress Black Omolo, who is now based in Holland (Netherlands). Omolo officially entered the music scene in 2013, which is when she shared her first recording, Love Your Life. Since then, she has toured all over Europe and has done shows in Jamaica, Brazil, and other regions around the globe, thus cementing her name on the world stage. 

In addition to Empress Black Omolo, the celebration will also feature Aarhus’ local reggae ensemble, One Love Marley Band; selectors DJ Henning, Booyaka Sound, and Denali Crew; as well as a cultural presentation by Danish writer Henrik Baek.
