CJ Milan, the promoter behind two recent sold-out Vybz Kartel shows at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, will present Return of the Warlord Bounty Killer at the same venue on Saturday, July 5, 2025. As this marks Bounty‘s first performance in the United States in approximately 15 years, there is already a buzz in and around the city as dancehall enthusiasts eagerly anticipate the event.

Dubbed Killer and Friends, the concert will also feature performances by popular dancehall artists Mavado, Aidonia, and Masicka. The promoter has also indicated that additional guest performers will be announced on the day of the show.

Uzman Celebrates Emancipation Month With New Single “August Free (Emancipation Anthem)”

Uzman, the Jamaican-Canadian rap artist, is hoping to make a significant impact this Emancipation Month with his new single titled “August Free (Emancipation Anthem).” Commemorated in Canada every August, Emancipation Month serves as a reminder of the end of slavery within the British Empire on August 1, 1834, following the enactment of the Slavery Abolition Act of 1833. This month not only acknowledges the enduring legacy of slavery, but it also celebrates the resilience and strength of Black communities. This is usually done through various gatherings and festivities.

Uzman‘s latest release, which went live on streaming platforms on May 12th under his own Beat Charge Incorporated music label, embodies this spirit of remembrance and unity. The soca-inspired track highlights the importance of acknowledging this historical milestone while encouraging collaboration within Black communities across Canada. By addressing the numerous issues faced by Black immigrants and their descendants, “August Free (Emancipation Anthem)” serves as a tribute to those who came before us. Importantly, it also highlights the fact that legislation was enacted recognizing an entire month (August) as Emancipation Month.

Listeners can access “August Free (Emancipation Anthem)” on major streaming platforms including Apple Music, Spotify, Pandora, Deezer, Amazon Music, and others. As we reflect upon this essential chapter in our history during Emancipation Month, Uzman‘s anthem stands as an uplifting reminder of our shared journey.

Omar Perry Pays Tribute to His Father with the Album “Channelling Lee Scratch Perry”

Omar Perry recently released “Channelling Lee Scratch Perry,” an eleven-track album that serves as a heartfelt tribute to his father, the iconic Jamaican record producer, songwriter, and singer Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry. Released on March 7th of this year via Burning Sounds, a UK-based record label, the album is characterized by its unique blend of reggae infused with roots and dub elements.

This project is particularly significant as it encapsulates the innovative spirit and production techniques for which Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry was renowned during his illustrious career. The album was produced by Olivier Gangloff, who had previously collaborated with Lee on his final studio album, “Heaven.” Tragically, Lee Perry passed away in August 2021 in Lucea, Jamaica, leaving behind a profound legacy in the music industry.

The creative team behind “Channelling Lee Scratch Perry,” including Omar Perry and Olivier Gangloff alongside Burning Sounds and Secret Records Limited, has already shared an official music video for the first track titled “Time Boom.” The visuals are a vivid representation of Omar‘s ability to channel his father’s essence—utilizing bright colors and dynamic movements that evoke the spirit of Lee Perry himself. The album is currently available on all major streaming platforms such as Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer, and Amazon Music. Additionally, viewers can find the accompanying music video on Secret Records Limited’s YouTube channel.
