As Ghana rapidly becomes the home of Afro-dancehall on the continent of Africa, a great many lyricists, chanters and deejays are always working towards becoming the next ‘big thing’. One man that has been getting a lot of attention from the genre’s fans and supporters, as well as from members of the local industry, is Donskii.
The Wonder 4 Music signee, who is fairly new on the scene, shared his first EP – Fully Don – last summer (July 24). Based on its positive reception the team at Wonder 4, headed by Tradition Man Wolo, thought it prudent to kick off the year with a full-length studio album. That said, Donskii‘s new LP, Greatness, went live on all streaming platforms approximately two weeks ago (January 16).
Confirming the statement made earlier, Donskii‘s introductory album attracted the interest of some of Ghana’s most celebrated producers: Gomezbeatx (Image, Greatness, Vibe, Hard Times, Contract, Money Time, Firm, Gone and Love Life); E.L. (Lose Control); MOG Beatz (Party); and Possigee (Fully Don). So far, the tracks Lose Control, Party and Love Life have been serviced to selectors, and all three are getting favorable reviews.
In a communication from Wonder 4 Music regarding this project, the label executives said the following: “This album serves notice to all about Donskii’s staying power. His approach to the development and recording of this album was very intense and he worked really hard. The “Fully Don Boss” as he refers to himself, hopes all will feel his dedication and hardwork when they listen to the album.”
