As events are being cancelled and/or postponed all across the United States, some promoters are holding out hoping that things will get back to normal by May of this year.

That being said, the organizers of the all female concert series, Femme It Forward, is still promoting the show. It is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 2nd at the Concord Pavilion (2000 Kirker Pass Rd) in Concord, California; and it features performances by Xscape, Keyshia Cole, Teedra Moses and Tweet. See below an official statement from Oliver Gilbert, Mayor of the City of Miami Gardens, regarding the 2020 Jazz in the Gardens Festival.

On March 11, 2020, at 10:48 PM, I signed a local state of emergency for the City of Miami Gardens due to Coronavirus (COVID-19).

After much consideration and in an abundance of caution, I’ve made the decision to postpone the Jazz in the Gardens Music Festival and its ancillary events. These events include Poetry in the Gardens, Women’s Impact Luncheon, the Official Press Conference, and Opening Night Party that were scheduled for Thursday, March 12 and Friday, March 13, as well as the Music Festival on Saturday, March 14 and Sunday, March 15.

While I know our Residents and patrons of Jazz are disappointed, our decision was made with them in mind.

We will be updating the Jazz in the Gardens website, www.jazzinthegardens.com, with information regarding rescheduling.

The City remains in close contact with state, national, and local health officials to monitor the latest developments on the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation.

We ask that Residents and visitors remain alert and continue to take proper preventative actions.

On Friday, March 13th, Jill Scott will perform at The Bell Auditorium (712 Telfair Street) in Augusta, Georgia. This is for her ‘Who Is Jill Scott’ 20th anniversary tour, which is currently roaring across the United States.
