Hip-hop artist, Scarface, has officially announced that he will be running for Houston City Council in District D. On June 5th, the Texas native asked his over 200,000 followers on twitter if he should make the run; he then made the decision on June 8th to go for it.

Legendary hip-hop group Bone Thugs-N-Harmony are confirmed for Yoshi’s (510 Embarcadero West, Jack London Square) in Oakland, California on Sunday, July 14th. This is an early event that will start at 7PM and go until approximately 9 PM .

A few weeks ago, Jamaican-born, Canada-based, hip-hop artist Tha Vor announced that he would be working on the official video for his banging single, Star Wars. Since then, he has contracted Die Fire Films, a Toronto production company, to help him bring the visuals to life.

Though shooting started some time ago, Tha Vor is still unable to give an exact release date; this is due in part to the fact that they will be doing multiple scenes. He has also decided that this will be the first song off an upcoming project, which will include 4 other videos of a 5 part mini movie based on his life story.

DJ Quik is a Compton, California rapper and producer. When it comes to West Coast producers, DJ Quik is at the top of all lists. Classic albums such as, Quik Is The Name (1990) and Way 2 Funky (1992) solidified DJ Quik in the 90’s Gangster Rap era of Hip-Hop.

Having put out several other albums since then, DJ Quik made his career producing for others. Known for his unique style of production, DJ Quik has been sought out by artists such as Jay-Z, Ludacris, Snoop Dogg, and many more, to work on their projects.

Following the success of the Roots Picnic, which took place on the 1st, the hip-hop group will be doing a slew of shows for the rest of the month.

On the 7th they will be at the REAL Watersports in Waves, North Carolina; on the 14th they are confirmed for the Edgefield concerts on the lawn; on the 15th they will be at the Les Schwab Amphitheater in Bend, Oregon; Ottawa City Hall will be the next stop on the 29th, and finally, Mystic Lake Casino Hotel in Prior Lake, MN on the 30th.
