talib kweliLegendary musician, writer and activist Talib Kweli has announced The Summer Soulstice Tour, a 15 city cross country journey that will bring one of hiphop’s best live shows to a venue near you. Known for classic collaborations like Black Star with Mos Def (Yasiin Bey) and Reflection Eternal with Hi Tek, as well as countless collaborations with artists like Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, the Roots and Common, Talib Kweli has become synonymous with excellent hiphop.

Joining Talib Kweli will be his powerhouse DJ, the African DJ, DJ Spintelect, Brazilian rap phenom NIKO IS, gifted Bronx New York artist Chazmere. Hosted by Brooklyn based comedian Seth Byrd, the Summer Soulstice Tour will be a fantastic display of music, comedy and culture that any fan of the arts can thoroughly enjoy. In addition to performing newer songs and diving into the political, social and cultural issues of the day, Talib Kweli will also be performing hits from his extensive catalog such as The Blast, Hot Thing and Get By.

Live Nation continues their all female concert series by announcing two back to back shows with seven of the most captivating women in R&B: Brandy, Amerie, Keri Hilson, Mya, Ashanti and Lil Mo. The legendary Roots Crew have become one of the best known and most respected hip-hop acts in the business, winning four GRAMMYS, including “Best R&B Album” for Wake Up! “Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance” for “Hang in There” (with John Legend) and “Best Group or Duo R&B Vocal Performance” for “Shine.” This brings the band’s GRAMMY nomination count to twelve.

Mary+J+BligeAnticipation is building for one of the biggest music events in New Orleans this summer, the 2019 Essence Music Festival. This will be three days of some of the best black performances from various musical genres.

One artist that fans are eager to see this year is Miss MJB (Mary J. Blige). She will be on the main-stage on Saturday, July 6th along with both Nas and H.E.R. There will also be a special appearance by first lady Michelle Obama on the same day.

The Essence Music Festival will be held at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome (1500 Sugar Bowl Dr) in New Orleans, Louisiana, from July 5th through 7th.

The 2019 staging of the popular New York festival, Groovin in the Park, will take place on Sunday, June 30th inside Roy Wilkins Park (Queens, New York).

This year’s lineup includes reggae greats: Third World, Beres Hammond and Sizzla Kalonji. On the R&B front they have added veteran singer Michael Bolton and most recently chart topping songstress Keyshia Cole.
