Rest In Power Cocoa Tea

There is a deep sadness in the reggae industry today as the news of Cocoa Tea‘s passing spreads. According to the Jamaica Gleaner, Cocoa Tea‘s wife, Malvia Scott, confirmed that he passed away at 4:46 am on March 11, 2025. He died at a hospital in Broward County, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, following a cardiac arrest.

Cocoa Tea rose to prominence in the mid-1980s with his breakout hit song “Rikers Island,” which made it to #1 in both the United States and England. An album with the same name followed, and the rest, as they say, is history.

HeavyBeat Records Shares Lyric Video For KashieF Lindo’s New Tune “One Breath”

An official lyric video is now available for KashieF Lindo‘s new tune “One Breath.” The visual, which was done by Maria Jackson 27, was shared to HeavyBeat Records‘ YouTube channel at the end of February, on the 25th to be precise.

More often than not, when we encounter stumbling blocks in life, we either retreat back to familiar territory (mentally/emotionally) or we rebel, lashing out with anger. Sadly, either response usually aggravates the situation rather than resolving it. KashieF Lindo‘s “One Breath” recommends another approach: relax, breathe, and remember that God is in control.

It’s an inspirational reggae track that was produced by Everald Metcalf and written by Willie Lindo, exclusively for HeavyBeat Records. The drum programming and guitar were done by KashieF and Willie Lindo, respectively; Robbie Shakespeare played bass; and Robbie Lyn added the piano, organ, and keys.

“One Breath” is available on all streaming platforms, and as stated above, the lyric video can be viewed on HeavyBeat Records‘ YouTube channel.

Clinton Fearon Poses Timely Question In New Single “Sleepwalking”

Reggae legend Clinton Fearon has just released a new song that is perfectly suited for the times we find ourselves in. The track is called “Sleepwalking,” and it very pointedly asks if we are ‘sleepwalking’ away from democracy, integrity, and humanity.

The official music video, which was also shared on the same day as the song (March 7th), shows people walking like robots while staring at their phones. Because Fearon is based in Seattle, one can only assume that this record was inspired, at least in part, by recent changes being made by the U.S. government and the impact those changes are having on the country.

Musically, “Sleepwalking” is a sonorous reggae record with deep bass and beautiful woodwind and brass instruments. It was written and composed by Clinton Fearon with contributions by several musicians. Click here or on the image above to check out the video, and remember to like, comment, and share.
