Beres Hammond and CapletonThe DMV Summer Fest is an outdoor event promoting all genres of music and cultures, with a strong emphasis on Caribbean songs, food and lifestyle. The festival is put together by a few of the top promoters from the DMV area.

For the 2019 staging, the promoters have confirmed that Jamaica’s fireman, Capleton, alongside the king of lover’s-rock, Beres Hammond, will be performing. The festival will be held on Sun, July 28th, at the Lake Clifton Park (2701 St. Lo Drive) in Baltimore, Maryland.

The DMV Summer Fest is a family fun day in which parents are encouraged to bring their entire families. Click here for tickets.

Dancehall and Afro-beat artist, Aurelia Dey, has been nominated in two major categories by the Scandinavian Afrobeats Music Awards. The Ghanaian singer is up for both ‘Best Female Artist‘ and ‘Best Stage Performance.

The Scandinavian Afrobeats Music Awards will be held at Subtopia (located at Rotemannavägen 10, 14557 Norsborg) in Stockholms Län, Sweden on May 4th.

Producer & Songwriter Michael Reynolds Making Major Moves With His Label, Sekimhaj Records

Michael ReynoldsMichael Reynolds is a songwriter and producer who has done work with, and for, some of the biggest names in reggae and dancehall. A few of his past productions feature artists such as Mad Cobra, Round Head, General B, Devonte, Baby Wayne and many more established figures in the industry. As a songwriter, Michael has penned songs for reggae legend Gregory Isaacs as well as the Mighty Diamonds.

After taking a hiatus, Michael Reynolds is now back on the scene with his very own label, Sekimhaj Records, and a slew of young talented artists all poised to take center stage. His camp is currently getting a lot of attention for the single “Stronger” done by one of the artist signed to his label, Quality. The record is quickly picking up steam in several communities in and around Kingston. The artist was recently featured in the Jamaica Star, where he was labeled as Jamaica’s rising sing-jay.
