Artist To Watch: Quality

QualityShakir Campbell, better known as Quality, is a dancehall recording artist. He was born in Kingston, Jamaica and grew up around the Red Hills Road community, where he now resides. Quality attended St. Richards Primary and Pembroke Hall High School. He also went to the Leap Center, a Heart Trust Training Institute, where he studied music and was the lead singer for the Leap Band. In addition to being a singer, Quality also plays drums.

He recorded his first song at the age of 13 for the veteran DJ Daddy Lizzard. After graduating from the Leap Center, Quality worked in the construction industry and then with the Power Services Company. While working with the power company, he got a call from his former music teacher at Leap, Mr. Michael Reynolds, who invited him to do some recordings for his label. Both men have been working together ever since and have even entered in an official production and management deal.

To date, Quality has four songs out on the Sekimhaj Label, which is owned and operated by Michael Reynolds. His single Stronger, which was released approximately three months ago has literally become an anthem in certain inner-city communities.

Sizzla To Perform at “Jamaica Ghana Fest” This Saturday (@jaghafest)

JaGha Fest is a festival that embraces Ghanaian and Jamaican culture through music, art and food! The 2019 staging will take place on Saturday, April 13th at Independence Square in Accra, Ghana.

The main headlining act for the JaGha Fest is Miguel Collins aka Sizzla Kalonji. Other Jamaican acts, as well as several Ghanian artists will also be on the show. For additional information visit the event’s official website.

Sanchez & Agent Sasco Among Those Confirmed For “Unifest” On May 19th (@AgentSasco)

The oldest multicultural celebration in Broward County will take place on Sunday, May 19th at the Lauderdale Lakes Vincent Torres Park (Florida). Unifest will feature live performances by some of Jamaica’s most respected talents, namely: Sanchez, Agent Sasco, Etana, Culture, Hezron and others.

Their entire 2019 lineup is made up of women in various genres of urban music: reggae, dancehall, afrobeat and world music. Some of the confirmed acts are: Aurelia Dey, Etana, Marcia Griffiths, Koffee, Etzia and a slew of other known female entertainers.

Buju’s Next Stop Is In The Bahamas On March 30th (@BujuOfficial)

Now that his debut performance for the Long Walk To Freedom Tour is behind him, Buju Banton and his team are now preparing for their next stop, which will be at the Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium in Nassau, Bahamas on March 30th.

This event, which is being presented by Paradise Productions, will also feature a set from international Nigerian artist Davido.

Christopher Martin Releases The Official Video For His Single “Life” (@Iamchrismartin)

Christopher Martin - LifeChristopher Martin’s “Life,” which is the focus single from his upcoming album “And Then,” (scheduled to be out on May 3rd, 2019), is an up-tempo, feel good song about not taking life for granted. The single was released on Friday, March 15th and is available on all streaming platforms.

Directed by Dameon Gayle, the visual starts with flashbacks to Chris’ childhood, it then fast forwards to now and shows him at a pool hall with friends enjoying and cherishing the moment. The video has a cameo appearance by reggae super star Busy Signal.

Shot in the NYC area, the video for Dolla Van was done in a manner to highlight the popular transportation system currently in place in various urban communities across the United States.
