Karamanti Opens Up About Her Struggles With Trigeminal Neuralgia & How It Has Affected Her Career

01 karaA couple days ago dancehall artist Karamanti went public with an illness she has been dealing with for sometime, Trigeminal Neuralgia, also known as the suicide disease because of the enormous pain it inflicts.

Though she found out conclusively that she has the sickness only this year, she has been getting triggers and signs for almost two years. Trigeminal Neuralgia is a chronic pain condition that affects the trigeminal nerve, which carries sensation from the face to the brain. For much of this year Karamanti has been getting jolts of excruciating pain on and off, and as a result was not able to create, perform or promote music on a consistent basis. That being said, she managed to complete and release a new EP titled Hurt People, as well as a couple of new singles: All Nation and Black Love.

She posted the following message on her social media platform:
“we will be sharing an official press release about this via my PR company but for now I will say that the reason I have been so inconsistent with music this year is because I have been battling with Trigeminal Neuralgia…

Though i never said anything to anyone, dealing with it made it almost impossible to speak much less perform at times. While I was finishing up the #HurtPeople EP I was in so much pain; this is the reason the project took so long.

When I released the EP I started to feel better but then the pain came back so I just decided to switch my attention to my other businesses as my energy was needed there.

Anyways by the grace of God ?? I’ve been doing a lot better so we push on… I have to big up Fatta at Anchor studio who worked with me through the pain and was so patient with me. big up Tixie as well, there is no way I could have finish up those recordings without him.”
