British Virgin Islands Gears Up for the 72nd Virgin Islands Emancipation Festival

The British Virgin Islands is preparing to host the 72nd Virgin Islands Emancipation Festival from July 25 through August 11, 2026. Commemorating the emancipation of enslaved Africans in the British Virgin Islands, the annual event brings together residents and visitors for more than two weeks of music, heritage, pageantry, food, and community festivities.

This year’s festival boasts a strong lineup of Caribbean talent, with confirmed performances from reggae, dancehall, and soca stars Beres Hammond, Popcaan, Sizzla, 450, Rock City (R. City), Problem Child, Patrice Roberts and Nadia Batson, in addition to numerous local and regional artists who will appear throughout the celebration.

Beyond the nightly concerts at Festival Village, attendees can look forward to a full slate of signature events, including the Miss BVI Pageant, Gospel Fest, Calypso Monarch, Soca Monarch, Fungi Fest, the Rise and Shine Tramp, cultural showcases, food fairs, and the colorful parades.

Emancifest 19 Returns to Sligoville Stadium with Free Two-Day Celebration

St. Catherine will play host to Emancifest 19, a two-day celebration of culture, gospel, reggae, rides, games, and family entertainment, set for July 31 and August 1, 2026, at Sligoville Stadium.

The event will be presented under the patronage of Member of Parliament Natalie Neita Garvey, continuing a tradition of community-centered Emancipation celebrations in the parish.

This year’s lineup features a strong roster of gospel and reggae talent, including Marcia Griffiths, Capleton, Tanya Stephens, Warrior King, Yaksta, Prodigal Son, Kevin Downswell, Sister Pat, Jodian Pantry, Perry In Christ, Jabez, Sativa D Black 1, and the Grace Thrillers.

Beyond the music, patrons can look forward to over 30 rides and games, making the festival a family-friendly destination for all ages. Admission is free.

Toronto JerkFest 2026 Marks 25th Anniversary

Toronto JerkFest will celebrate its 25th anniversary from August 7 to 9 at Centennial Park in Etobicoke, Ontario. The weekend will bring together Caribbean cuisine, live entertainment, cultural showcases, family-friendly activities and premium hospitality services as organizers mark a quarter-century of the festival.

This year’s music lineup includes Jamaican recording artists Lukie D, Mr. Lexx, Spice and 450, as well as Trinidadian soca artist Patrice Roberts. Presented by TD, it runs Friday through Sunday, with 450 performing on August 7 and the rest of the headliners taking the stage on August 8 and 9.

Jamaica Day GTA Returns to Brampton This August

Brampton will host the Jamaica Day GTA Family, Food & Music Festival on August 22 and 23 at Brampton Sports Park, located at 7575 Kennedy Road South. The two-day event, presented in partnership with Experience Brampton, the City of Brampton, and the Black Empowerment Unit (BEU), promises a celebration of Jamaican culture through music, food, and family-friendly entertainment.

The festival kicks off Friday, August 22, with performances from Klassik, Frescobar, Flourgan, and General B. It continues on Saturday, August 23, with reggae and dancehall veterans Richie Stephens, Louie Culture, and Anthony Cruz. As part of the weekend’s festivities, the event will also include Allure Carnival.

Tommie Tei Joins Lineup for Island Takeover Summer 2026 in Niagara Falls

Reggae recording artist Tommie Tei is set to perform at the Island Takeover Summer concert, taking place on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at Plush Imperial in Niagara Falls, Ontario. The 18+ event will also feature performances by King Fabuloso (Black Latino) and MDOTR, with music provided by DJ Kijana.

Tommie Tei‘s appearance comes as he continues promoting his debut album, Progress, which was released on May 22, 2026 through Young Kush Records and Tommie Tei Records. Blending reggae and dancehall influences, the 11-track project marks a significant milestone in the artist’s career, serving as his first full-length studio album following a string of successful singles and a six-track EP.

With Progress continuing to build momentum, fans attending the Island Takeover Summer concert can expect an energetic live performance showcasing music from the new album alongside some of Tommie Tei‘s fan favorites. Doors open at 9:00 p.m., with the event running until 2:00 a.m.

Kaya Fest 2026: Marley Family, Shabba Ranks Set for Toronto

Fruit of Life Productions and Wynn Records will bring Kaya Fest to Canada for the first time, with the festival set for Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the Markham Fairgrounds in Toronto.

The lineup is headlined by the Marley family, featuring Stephen, Damian, Ky-Mani, and Julian Marley, alongside dancehall veteran Shabba Ranks and reggae artists Lila Iké and Jesse Royal. The event will also spotlight the Marley 3rd Generation, featuring YG, Yohan, DJ Shacia Päyne, Mystic, Hymn, Zion, and King Cruff.

Additional special guests include co-hosts SpexDaBoss, Cuhdeejah, and KC Clarke, with more performers to be announced.
