Yolanda Adams, Kelontae Gavin & Dr. James Mable Jr. Take the Stage at PVAMU Gospel Fest ’26 Today

Today, Sunday, October 11, Gospel Fest ’26 officially opens Prairie View A&M University’s (PVAMU) Homecoming celebrations in Prairie View, Texas. The event is part of the university’s 150th anniversary milestone, celebrated under the theme “Rooted & Rising.”

Four-time Grammy Award-winning gospel legend Yolanda Adams headlines the event, joined by national recording artist Kelontae Gavin. PVAMU alumnus and gospel artist Dr. James Mable Jr. will host the evening.

The program will also spotlight the university’s student talent, featuring performances by the Baptist Student Movement Choir and Praise Dancers, PV Mime and One Accord, Jeremiah and the Messiah Singers, and the PVAMU Concert Chorale.

Gospel Fest ’26 takes place at the PVAMU Recreation Center’s Main Gymnasium, with doors opening at 3:00 p.m. and performances beginning at 4:00 p.m. The gospel programming is scheduled to continue until 9:30 p.m.

Serving as the opening event for a week of homecoming activities running October 11–17, Gospel Fest ’26 brings together gospel music, campus talent, and Panther pride. Tickets and additional information are available through the PVAMU Homecoming website and the Prairie View Panthers Ticket Office.
