Flava Promotions will be hosting the first annual Edmonton International Reggae Jamboree Festival on Saturday, August 17th. To kick off the event, they have confirmed three top-tier Jamaican entertainers, namely: Luciano, Baby Cham and Fanton Mojah.
The Reggae Jamboree Festival will be held at Louise Mckinney Park (9999 Grierson Hill) in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, from 11 AM to 10 PM.
The legendary Roots Crew have become one of the best known and most respected hip-hop acts in the business, winning four GRAMMYS, including “Best R&B Album” for Wake Up! “Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance” for “Hang in There” (with John Legend) and “Best Group or Duo R&B Vocal Performance” for “Shine.” This brings the band’s GRAMMY nomination count to twelve.
They will be live at the Harrah’s Resort SoCal (777 Harrah’s Rincon Way) in Funner, California on Friday, August 30th. The event will start at 8 PM. Get tickets here.
On June 22nd, Jamaican reggae artist Jah Mason will be the main performer at the Kleur Festival (Europe). The event will be held at Zee Dijk, 8400 Oostende in Belgium. Though there will be other artists and several sound systems on the lineup, Mason is, as far as we can see, the only Jamaican on the show.
Anticipation is building for one of the biggest music events in New Orleans this summer, the 2019 Essence Music Festival. This will be three days of some of the best black performances from various musical genres.
One artist that fans are eager to see this year is Miss MJB (Mary J. Blige). She will be on the main-stage on Saturday, July 6th along with both Nas and H.E.R. There will also be a special appearance by first lady Michelle Obama on the same day.
The Essence Music Festival will be held at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome (1500 Sugar Bowl Dr) in New Orleans, Louisiana, from July 5th through 7th.
The organizers of the UK’s One Love Festival are pulling out all the stops this year, as they have confirmed a stellar lineup of establish reggae and dancehall acts. The three-day event, which will run from August 30th through to September 1st, will be held at The Hop Farm (Maidstone Road) in Paddock Wood, Kent, UK.

One of reggae’s most underrated lyricist, I Wayne, is getting a lot of attention for his recently released single “Trample the Beast.” Produced by Ns Music Enterprise, the song is featured on the Reggae Explosion Riddim, which also has music from several top-tier reggae acts, namely; Bugle, Lutan Fyah, Singer J and others.
Among all the songs on the compilation however, it is I Wayne‘s “Trample the Beast” that seems to be resonating with listeners. On the record, the lava ground singer touches on topics like unity, integrity, violence (specifically in Jamaica), poverty and various other subjects.

The 8th staging of Singers in Action will be held at the Ford Amphitheater at Coney Island Boardwalk (3052 W 21st Street) in Brooklyn, New York on Sunday, August 4th. The headlining act for the event is non other than the king of lover’s rock, Mr. Beres Hammond. The legendary singer will be joined by the man of the moment, Romain Virgo and veteran British reggae artist, Maxi Priest.
