Micah Shemaiah Voices His Frustration About The State Of Jamaica (@MicahShemaiah)

Very often we misinterpret the meaning behind some of the songs we hear, so it is always appreciated when we get the story directly from the songwriter. This is the case with Micah Shemaiah‘s “Jamaica Jamaica.”

A few weeks ago the official video for the song was released and with it a brief writeup about what inspired it. Click here or on the image above to watch the visuals, and checkout Micah‘s thoughts about the record below.

“Social and economic problems have always plagued our country, we always overcame them because of our strong moral standards, and ultimately the world at large benefitted from our outstanding devotion to truth and spirituality. We here in Jamaica seemed at one point to be the spiritual center of the world. The place where what was considered true and real livity, would always exist. It now Pains my heart to see the degradation of who we are as a People. We grabbing at every frivolous thing the world throws out and while we distracted they taking our culture and turning it into a Fars and a money wheel. WAKE UP JAMAICA”

“Stand With The Protesters Remix” Video Coming in 2021! (@EgDaGovenaw)

Several weeks ago, in the height of the protests against police brutality and racial inequality, four artists got together and made it clear that they are standing with the people who are speaking out against these injustices.

New York based dancehall and soca artist E.G., who had previously released a single titled “Stand With The Protesters,” invited Ras Xtr3me, Mr. AMG and J Shadda to join him on the remix. Coincidentally, the revised version became more widely accepted than the original. This resulted in the men creating some visuals for the project.

Within the last few weeks, director King Neptune came up with a concept that would allow all the men – despite being in different cities, and in some cases countries – to play a part in telling the story about police abusing their power and stereo typing young black men. The video, which was predominantly captured at Bushwick Studio in Brooklyn, New York, was shot and is being edited by Mavrick’s Mansion Studios.

The official release date is not yet known but it is expected to be released in January, 2021. E.G., the man behind the project said the following about the video: “It was fun and exciting to pull off this shoot and a big shout out to everyone who helped us put this together.”

Have You Seen The Video For AZ’s “Different”? (@quietAZmoney)

I know I’m a bit late on this, but I just got a chance to checkout the visuals for AZ‘s new track “Different.” While watching it several thoughts were going through my mind: 1) how good he is lyrically; 2) how captivating he is as an MC, and most importantly; 3) how similar he is to Nas in style and tone.

If you’re into authentic hip-hop and you have not yet seen the video, click here or on the image above to watch it and remember to like, comment and share.
