Have you Seen Th1rt3en’s Tiny Desk Home Concert? (@ChannelTh1rt3en)

I don’t think I’ve ever sat through any of these Tiny Desk Concerts from start to finish, that is until NPR Music uploaded Th1rt3en‘s home presentation on January 18th. I literally just watched all 17 minutes and 29 seconds of Pharoahe Monch (on the mic), Daru Jones (on drums) and Marcus Machado (on guitar). Collectively all three men are known as Th1rt3en – a hardcore hip-hop trio that is just amazing!

If you are into authentic hip-hop, not the water-down bubble rap that’s popular now, but real MC, beats, relevant lyrics etc. then click here and treat yourself. I have to warn you though that this is not for the faint of heart. These men are explosive in their respective areas and the content is rated PG.

Capleton Leads The Upcoming Raised Riddim With “Ah No People Dem Love” (@capletonmusic)

On February 12th, Krak In Dub – The Argentinian producer who is based in France – will be releasing the Raised Riddim. The twelve-track reggae compilation will feature new music from some familiar voices: Beenie Man, Johnny Osbourne, Tiger and Capleton. It will also have some names that may be new to ardent reggae supporters this side of the globe.

Leading the project is non other than the fireman, Capleton, with an aggressive yet factual chant titled “Ah No People Dem Love.” King Shango continues to use his music to burn the fire on things that he disagrees with. On this particular record it’s the choosing of money over people.

Emerging Hip-Hop Artist Serita Campbell Talks About The “American Dream” (@Young_Deuces @SeritaCampbell3g)

With all that is happening now in America I wanted to shed some light on this new record by an up-and-coming female hip-hop artist. The song is titled “American Dream” and it’s a collaboration by the aforementioned rapper Serita Campbell and Young Deuces.

The black music industry is in a very sad state. I say that because in my opinion most of the big ‘stars’ are singing, chanting and rapping about money, power and sex, while these young acts – that we so often ignore – are giving us substantitive music.

As is now the custom, the release of the audio is accompanied by some visuals. Click here or on the image above to watch the official video and remember to like, comment and share.

Reggae Artist Moses I Releases Powerful New Single “Reparation”

Reggae artist Moses I, one of the original founders of the Rastafari Musical Collective, David House Crew, has released an interrogative new track, titled “Reparation.” The artist who travels back and forth between his homes in Kingston, Jamaica and Fort Lauderdale, Florida, recorded the song last July in his own Livon Music Production Studio (based in Fort Lauderdale).

According to Moses I, the song came about because he wanted to help to eradicate the division, as it relates to reparation, that has been, and continues to be an issue in some black communities. He firmly believes that a nation divided against itself is a weak one, as such, this song is meant to shed some light on this problem in the hopes that it will be amended.

“Reparation” is on the Ironstorm & Livon Music Production labels; with production credits going to the Home Bred Band for the actual rhythm, David Rowe for arrangement and Roland McDermot for mixing and mastering, which was done at Tuff Gong Studio.

When asked what he would like people to take away from this song, Moses I said the following: “I would like people to understand that many things can be accomplished with unity, and upon gaining that knowledge, I would like for them to achieve a greater purpose and find positive direction in life.”
