Upstairs Music Adds Rocksteady Classic To New Reggae Compilation
In 1966 Clement Dodds, the man behind Studio One Records, worked on what is now widely regarded as a bonified classic by Ken Boothe: The Train Is Coming. Shortly after its release in the sixties it became a hit in Jamaica as well as among Jamaicans in the diaspora, particularly those in England
Years later in the early nineties, Danny Breakenridge, CEO and owner of Upstairs Music, re-recorded The Train Is Coming for an album (Acclaimed) he and Boothe were working on.
Exactly two years later another version of the song was done. The new version, performed by both Ken Boothe and Shaggy, is considered a fusion of Caribbean-pop and dancehall. It was more upbeat and as a result introduced the song to wider, more youthful audience. The Train Is Coming was even featured in the blockbuster hit movie The Money Train, starring Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson.
In 2018 Breakenridge revisited the riddim and begun adding more artists to it. Once he was satisfied with the production he titled the full project The Train Is Coming Riddim. That said, in addition to Ken Boothe, the compilation also has music from Wayne Armond, Screwdriver, Hezron, Kristine Alicia, Dwight Pinkney, AJ Brown, 2 Of A Kind, Glen Washington, Bagga Case, Marcia Ball, Skatta, Kehv, Dheapblu and Yishka.
Musicians that have contributed to the creation of the rhythm are: Paul Gauntlett on keyboard and guitar, Lloyd Parks on bass, Desi Jones on drums and Yishka on saxophone. The Train Is Coming Riddim was released on the 3rd of September, 2021 and can now be streamed and downloaded from all online music stores.

Dean Fraser’s “Flat Bridge” Is A Timeless Contribution To The Reggae Industry (@Tadsrecord)
Every reggae lover knows the name Dean Fraser; regardless if they are very erudite about the genre or they only have a basic appreciation for it. The fact is Fraser, who is a master saxophonist, has literally contributed to hundreds of reggae recordings since the 1970s.
Persons fortunate to have worked with him will testify that he is a perfectionist both on stage and in the studio. Therefore, it goes without saying that his personal productions are held to the highest musical standards. But as he has always done, and will no doubt continue to do, Dean Fraser delivers!
His most recent contribution to the reggae industry is a thirteen-track instrumental album titled Flat Bridge. The project, which has two features: Andre ‘Stringy’ Marsh and Okiel McIntyre, is all live instruments with horns. There are a few dub mixes and a little improvisations, but all and all this is an authentic Jamaican reggae album that is very easy to listen to.
Flat Bridge is produced by Dean Fraser and Tad ‘Junior Tads’ Dawkins for Tad’s Record. The executive producers are Tad A. Dawkins and Tad A. Dawkins Jnr. It was released on all online music platforms, as well as on physical disc on June 4th, 2021.
While preparing this article, we scoured the internet to see what others are saying about Dean Fraser‘s Flat Bridge and were overwhelmed by all the positive reviews. Below are just a couple of the chatter we were able to copy and share.
