Disc-Jock Redeem Launches New Reggae-Dancehall Event “Urban Xpression” (@IMREDEEM) 

Popular Jamaican radio personality Disc-Jock Redeem, who can be heard on Roots 96.1 FM, will launch his new event – Urban Xpression – this Thursday, April 14th. Urban Xpression is a weekly (every Thursday) urban affair that is being done in collaboration with the venue: Luxury Lounge (formerly Oneil’s Place), located at 33 Hagley Park Road in Kingston, Jamaica.

Every week there will be live performances from both emerging and established artists, followed by a retro party with selectors DJ Stanhype and Disc-Jock Redeem. The entire show will stream live on Disc-Jock Redeem‘s official Facebook page, but persons are encouraged to attend in-person as there is no cover charge.

Confirmed artists for this week are Ras Brando, Dezola Kadamawe and Emmanuel Chin. In addition to doing their respective sets, each artist will also be interviewed live on stage prior to their performance.

Fantan Mojah Performs At Plantation Smokehouse This Friday

Plantation Smokehouse and Restaurant continues their weekly Live Band series this Friday – April 15 – with a special performance from recording artist Fantan Mojah. All are invited to join in the festivities in Richmond, St. Ann, Jamaica, as there is no cover charge.

In 2005 Fantan’s debut album Hail the King was released. It featured popular singles: Hail the King, Nuh Build Great Man featuring Jah Cure and Corruption. Those were some of the most talked about records of 05, which resulted in him being dubbed the breakout artist for that year. The album excelled in Europe, opening the door to three consecutive European tours in 2006 and continued success worldwide.

Capleton, Triston Palma & Horace Martin All Confirmed For “Foundation Legends Festival” In Mexico

The 2022 Foundation Legends Festival is to take place on May 28th and 29th at Centro de espectaculos Teotihuacan, located at Av. Pirámides S/N, Teotihuacan Centro, San Juan Teotihuacan de Arista in México.

Three Jamaican artists have been confirmed as the main headliners: Capleton along with The Prophecy Band, Triston Palma and Horace Martin. New Album From Horace Andy “Midnight Rocker” (@onusound)

Jamaican roots reggae songwriter and singer Horace Andy, in collaboration with On-U Sound, has just released 10 brand new recordings, collectively called Midnight Rocker. The album was produced by English producer Adrian Sherwood, who is the founder of On-U Sound.

From this body of work Andy‘s fans and supporters can expect superb musicianship, carefully crafted production and Horace‘s beautiful vocals. The material includes revisiting and updating a few classic Horace Andy songs, but the bulk of the tracks are brand new compositions with contemporary messages. JaRIA’s Honor Awards Will Be Presented On Easter Sunday

Jamaica Reggae Industry Association (JaRIA) will host its annual Honor Awards show on Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022, at 3pm local time. For the second year in a row the JaRIA Honor Awards will be presented in a predominantly virtual format and can be viewed via the following digital platforms: Onstage TV and PBC Jamaica.

Viewers can expect a high quality and engaging show, with musical tributes arranged by Michael ‘Ibo’ Cooper, Ewan D. A. Simpson, Alex Martin-Blanken, Everol Wray and Dean Fraser. Additionally, there will be performances by Hector Roots Lewis, Jah-Lil, Knixx Taylor and others.

The Rock The Bells Festival will donate partial proceeds to the Universal Hip-Hop Museum in the Bronx. The museum’s mission is to celebrate and preserve the people, artifacts and stories that echo from 1973 to today.
