Reggae-Dancehall artist Ragga Lox kicked off 2022 with the release of Spliff & Beer, one of the singles from his upcoming album, Climbing. The track, which is all about enjoying and valuing life, was inspired by some of the more devastating events we all saw and experienced throughout the covid-19 pandemic.
In his own words, Ragga Lox describes it this way: “after loosing some close family members and friends I wanted to give a sense of appreciation for life, knowing we don’t have much control over what’s going on.”
Last week he premiered the official visuals on his YouTube channel. The upbeat, flashy video was shot at Liberty State Park in Jersey City (New Jersey) by Justin Russel of Juslive Media. It is an honest depiction of the lifestyle of some Jamaicans residing in the New York / New Jersey area as they unplug and unwind.
Now that the clip is out, Ragga Lox and his team are racing to complete the album, which they hope to have out sometime in the Summer.

The American roots label, Big Feet Records, continues to make significant contributions to reggae music by way of their quality releases. The latest is Without Love, performed by legendary reggae artist Ken Boothe. Both the song and its accompanying lyric video went live on streaming platforms earlier today – April 15 – via VPal Music and Reggaeville respectively.
Boothe‘s lead vocals on Without Love were complimented by Pam Hall (a recording artist in her own right) who added all the harmonies. The keyboard and bass were played by Josh Harris, the CEO and owner of Big Feet Records; guitar was done by Jallanzo and drums by Santa Davis. Mixing engineer is Tommi Tikkanen and mastering was done by Earle Holder.
At the beginning of the year Boomrich Productions released a new single performed by international recording artist Richie Stephens. The song, titled Valley, is an inspirational tune that captured a lot of attention and subsequently inspired a remix.
The new version was done by Nigerian selector, Commissioner DJ Wysei, who gave it a more up-tempo mix that is now getting heavy rotation in nightclubs. The official video, directed by Terminal 4 Media, premiered last week, and is already trending. If you have not done so as yet, check it out and remember to like, comment and share.
