On the Jamaica Music Countdown Charts – published on November 4th, by Richard ‘Richie B’ Burgess – the God man Little Hero is sitting in the #1 spot in a couple of categories. Hero‘s song, World Right Now, which has been on the chart for nineteen weeks, is now number one on the Top 25 Reggae Singles Chart; And his LP – The Journey Continue – is the number one album in the country.
The World Right Nowis an inspirational dancehall track produced by brothers Sheldon and Leroy Edwards for their imprint Pandemic Records. It was first shared in the last quarter of 2021, and was also on Pandemic Records‘ Logic Riddim; a dancehall compilation that also has songs by Munga Honorable, Sizzla Kalonji, Fantan Mojah, Chillum and others.
As for the album, The Journey Continue came out on July 15, 2022. It features his current trending single, World Right Now, as well as renditions of faith-based tunes: Don’t Ever Give Up, God Is Amazing and Thank God For Another Day. There are also several songs that solidify the exceptionality of Little Hero’s artistry: Heart Of Kingston, Straight From My Heart and Do TheRight Thing. “Tell yu say the world inna trouble set speed, tell yu say Jah busy but him nah sleep; Di system is a fake so mi kick it dung straight under feet, Jah busy but him nah sleep.”
The preceding are words echoed by recording artist Lutan Fyah on his newest single: Nah Sleep. This song is aptly described as thought-provoking because of the cautionary advice it offers. “Tell yu say the world inna trouble”; is a factual statement that everyone – regardless of their political persuasion, religious beliefs etc. – agrees with. Where we may differ is with the second line in that stanza: “tell yu say Jah busy but him nah sleep.” This is because we each practice our own theology, with some choosing atheism or agnosticism instead.
What Lutan Fyah – who is a committed Rastafarian – did on this track, is remind us that we will each be held accountable for our actions, whatever they may be, and whatever dogmas we subscribe to. The lines shared in the first paragraph were taken from the chorus; in the verse he goes into more details without getting too specific. Click here to watch the Lyric Video.
His message, though weighty, is easily digested on the groovy reggae rhythm done by the team at Big Feet Records. CEO and owner Josh Harris played both bass and keyboard, Santa Davis played drums and Jallanzo added the lead guitar. Nikki Burt did the backing vocals, and it was mixed and mastered by Tommi Tikkenen and Earle Holder, respectively.
Nah Sleep, which is on the Big Feet Records label, is out now on all streaming platforms.
Delayed but not denied. That is the thinking in Marsha Wade‘s camp after she released her very first soetry in approximately four years. The Jamaica based pastor, author and soet, shared the captivating single at the beginning of November via Liberty Music RMW.
Titled God Can Gwaan Eeh, the unique blend of music and poetry (soetry), is being met with genuine attentiveness, fascination and intrigue; especially from persons not familiar with this form of expression. On a Caribbean rhythm fused with Jamaican dancehall, Wade shares her testimony and gives praises to The Most High, while simultaneously acknowledging that God has blessed her so much that He may now just be showing-off.
While on her musical hiatus Marsha Wade was actively involved in various conferences, speaking engagements, outreach programs and women’s ministries (Women Without Blemish). She also wrote and released the book Patois Tales. All the aforementioned commitments will continue. In fact, she is confirmed for the Un-Leash Yourself Conference on November 19 at The Trade Centre – 30-32 Red Hills Road (Suite 18) – in Kingston, Jamaica.
God Can Gwaan Eeh can be streamed and downloaded from all major music platforms; and Marsha Wade is now available for interviews and bookings.
