Hip-Hop 50 New Year’s Eve Celebration will be held at The St. James Sports, Wellness and Entertainment Complex – 6805 Industrial Road – in Springfield, Virginia, starting at 8pm local time.
It will be hosted by Kenny Burns, with legendary rapper Slick Rick and beat-boxing king Doug E. Fresh as the masters of ceremony. Get tickets and additional information here.
Acting upon his doctor’s orders, Jamaica’s dancehall king – Beenie Man – has announced that he will be canceling his upcoming shows so that he can properly rest and recover from an ankle injury he suffered in November.
Both he and his doctor appeared in a video shared on social media explaining the importance of him resting his foot, as well as the potential consequences of not doing so. Although the injury occurred last month when a taxi collided with a bike Beenie was on, it is an issue now because he did not take time off back then; and by not doing so, he has made the wound worse.
In early March Rastafarian recording artist Kabaka Pyramid will head to France, where he will kick off the Europe and UK promo tour for his latest album, The Kalling. The fourteen-track LP was released at the end of September via Ghetto Youths International and Bebble Rock Music. Below are all the confirmed tour dates and locations announced by the sing-jay.

St. Thomas Reunion – a dancehall concert scheduled for Saturday, January 7th, 2023 – will be held at Colonel Cove in Morant Bay, St. Thomas, Jamaica. It will feature live performances by Louie Culture, Jah Vinci, 450 and Gucci Stamp Boss; with host Aisha Prendy at the helm.
In addition to the live performances, several top-tier selectors and sound systems – Metro Media, Dunrich World Sound, Ritchi Lees, DJ Spider and Bigga 5 – will be spinning the best reggae and dancehall music.
The popular New Year’s Day gospel concert, Genesis, which will be held at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Center in Kingston, Jamaica, on January 1st, 2023, will also be staged in Montego Bay – on the same day – at the Montego Bay Community College Auditorium.
The Montego Bay show will feature Kevin Downswell, Rhoda Isabella, Jai Kingston, Carey Sales, Leo Teape, Treisha Williams, Yvonne Cohen, Sudania B, Christina Kerr Cleghorn, Shaundre Cowan and more. MCs are Pastor Ivan Hall and Paul Green; with additional music by DJ Chinny. Tickets at the gate will be $2,500.
Little over a month ago – on November 4th – Lecrae dropped Church Clothes 4, the finalé of the inspirational rap series that was first shared in 2012. In celebration of the compilation’s conclusion, Vevo featured Lecrae on their Ctrl performance show, a program that focuses on the artistry of hip-hop, R&B, reggaeton and Afrobeats acts.

Anthony Cruz‘s reggae remix of Alexander O’Neal‘s 1985 hit song – If You Were Here Tonight – was one of the hottest lovers-rock reggae tunes released in the summer. The sultry record was produced by Mark Ho-Sang and Tad Dawkins Jr., and will be featured on Cruz‘s upcoming album, scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2023. This single and the forthcoming LP are being presented by Tad’s Record Inc.
The official video for If You Were Here Tonight, which is just as hot as the audio, was shared on December 16th. Anthony‘s acting skills are on display, as he plays the role of a man reminiscing about moments shared with his lover, while he – being alone at the time – yearns for her. It was directed and edited by Shane ‘Shaz’ Walters of Luminous Entertainment Ja.
There is no doubt that the publishing of the visuals will result in the record getting a wider audience, and once again climbing to the top of traditional and digital playlists.
