Ninja Crown “Talk Up” Signature T-Shirt Line by Cooyah Clothing (@NinjaCrown)

00-talkupnowWhen world renowned sound system selector Ninja Crown teamed up with Cooyah Clothing for “TalkUp, his idea was simple and precise, to open honest dialogues and use his voice to make a difference.

The dj/radio host kicked off his campaign on his beloved island of Jamaica where part of the #TalkUp sales aim to benefit Kingston Public Hospital. Reaching out to the media, Ninja visited such platforms as NewsTalk, Hot 102FM, Fame FM, Hype TV to explain the mission of #TalkUp. Humbled by the experience, he visited Kingston Public Hospital and saw first hand the urgent needs list and assessed for himself what is needed by the hospital.

“My recent visit home, to Jamaica, was a productive one and an eye opener. Meeting with Dr Natlie Whylie of Kingston Public Hospital really made me see for myself that a lot is needed and I have a lot of work to do. But it can be done and will get done” stated Rohan “Ninja Crown” Henry

As Ninja is back on American soil, his mission continues, Talk Up about injustice, Talk Up about the need for the the less fortunate, Talk Up for the Voiceless. Talk Up! Order #TalkUp now on http://www.Cooyah.com or place order now at TalkUpTshirts@gmail.com

Likkle Lightning is in Jamaica working on the last six tracks needed to complete his debut album. Though they are a bit behind schedule, from a production view point, the artist and his team are still hopeful that the project will be ready for the initially announced release date of September 2015.

After reaching out to several mixing engineers and not being able to find the right one that compliments Lightning’s style, he has decided to go back to Tuff Gong which is where he did all his earlier production.

Jamaica’s Leader Of The Opposition, Andrew Holness, Connecting With The Streets (@AndrewHolnessJM @jlpjamaica)

As Jamaica’s federal elections draws near the leader of the opposition, Mr. Andrew Holness has been very busy campaigning. Though Jamaicans are use to politicians surfacing in an election season, there seem to be a feeling of sincerity about Mr. Holness’ actions. He appears to be genuinely concerned about the downward direction the country is going, branding his party ‘Team Prosperity’ and stating that when in power they will grow the Jamaican economy which will mean better lives for all Jamaicans.

He has so far visited some of the poorest and most desolate regions on the island; and in what can only be interpreted as an effort to really connect with party loving Jamaicans, he has even showed up at dances held in the inner cities.

Janelle Monae Releases Powerful Song In Protest Of Racial Injustice (@JanelleMonae)

00-janelle-monae-650aAmerican R&B artist/activist Janelle Monae has released a powerful track called “Hell You Talmbout.” The song is both painful and powerful as it calls the names of just a few of the Black brothers and sisters who have lost their lives because of the color of their skin. Maybe in an attempt not to distract us from the purpose of the record, Janelle did not tell a story in the verses. Instead, she, along with others, simply yelled out the names of the victims.

While reading some of the feedback about the song we noticed a common concern; and that is, not enough artists are addressing these social issues via their music.
