On Friday, October 1st, Bajan soca star Alison Hinds along with some of her musical colleagues: Voice, Nessa Preppy, DJ Puffy and others, will perform at a special edition of Fire Fridays.

The event, which is to be held at Rum Jungle (5533 International Drive) in Orlando, Florida, is being called Faluma; the name of Alison‘s 2007 hit song. Click here for tickets.

Trinidad & Tobago soca stars Kes The Band will hit the road in the U.S. this Fall for their first tour dates in two years. 

On Labor Day Monday, September 6th, the band will bring its IzWe concert series — a curated celebration of soca music and Caribbean Carnival culture — to The Boardwalk Lot, Coney Island, in Brooklyn, NYC. With New York’s annual West Indian American Day Carnival — which typically brings 2 million revelers to Brooklyn’s Eastern Parkway on Labor Day Monday — cancelled for a second year due to Covid-19, Kes The Band aim to fill the void with a night of performances by some of soca music’s biggest names. 

For IzWe NY, the group has handpicked a roster of top performers from their native Trinidad & Tobago including Iwer George, Nailah Blackman, Patrice Roberts, Nadia Batson, Farmer Nappy, Ravi B and Etienne Charles, as well as Barbados soca icon Alison Hinds, St. Lucia’s Teddyson John and Nomcebo (of “Jerusalema” fame) from South Africa. 

Soca Gold 2021 is due out on September 3rd; however, VP is giving us a taste of what is to come by sharing the first single: Go Gal by Alison Hinds. Anyone familiar with Alison knows that she is the original queen of soca. So this, like most if not all her previous releases, is a hit!

Soca Gold 2021 is a non-stop party juggling with a bonus mega-mix disc performed by DJ Puffy. The compilation will feature South African artist Master KG and the monster hit Jerusalema, six recent Soca Gold anthems from Rupee, Iwer George, Edwin Yearwood and others, plus so much more.

On Sunday, August 29th, Image Miami – The Int’l Music Festival, will be held at the Historic Virginia Key Beach Park (located at 4020 Virginia Beach Drive) in Miami, Florida. Starting time is 2 PM.

This event, which is being hosted by Carla Henry, will have music by DJ Don Hot, Walshyfire, Nasheen Fire and Dunrich World Sound. Additionally, there will be a live performance by soca king Bunji Garlin. Click here for tickets.

Soca Tabanca 2021 is set for Sunday, August 22nd at Creative Venue & Rentals (40 Logan Street) in Bridgeport, Connecticut. It’s scheduled to run from 5PM to 11PM EDT.

In addition to having an all-star lineup of DJs, the event will also feature top-tier soca performers such as Bunji Garlin and his Vikings crew, Raymond Ramnarine, Lil Natty and Thunda. Tickets, which start at $25 USD are available via eventbrite.

On Monday, July 5th Captain Jason Benn will host Summer Bliss Cooler Fete at a private location in New York. The event will run from noon to 8PM (local time).

Music will be provided by Hot 97’s Massive B, Freeze Int’l, Sal Infrared, DJ Active, Byfar Jr Cruiza, Elegance Sounds, Team Xclusive and DJ Xlence. There will also be a special performance by Vincentian artist Skinny Fabulous. Click here for tickets and additional info.

North Carolina will be having a ‘Carolina Island Style‘ Afro-Caribbean experience on the first weekend in July. The three-day event will feature live performances from international artists, top Caribbean DJs and much more!

The festivities will kick off on Friday, July 2nd, with a high energy set by established soca artist Farmer Nappy. ‘Carolina Island Style‘ will take place at Bakadi Lounge, which is located at 4205 Monroe Road in Charlotte, North Carolina.
