Tomorrow, Friday, August 28th, radio personality Angela Yee will be hosting her annual “Angela Yee Day” concert. It goes without saying that this year’s event will be done virtually; with a live stream via The Breakfast Club’s YouTube channel.
There will be live performances from a slew of top-tier artists, namely: Romain Virgo, Beenie Man, D Major, KES, Christopher Martin and many more. The performances are scheduled to begin at 12 noon (NYC time)
A few days ago dancehall lyricist Karamanti shared a new song titled “Genesis19.” The record, which is literally about the bible book and chapter after which it is named, is on Karamanti‘s own Blakkwuman22 Music label.
Similar to her previous releases, “Genesis19” is also very opinionated and, according to some critics, extremely thought-provoking. Known for her hardcore style, Karamanti reveals another side on this track as in addition to deejaying, she is also reading verses found in the aforementioned chapter.
The song was recorded at Anchor Studio in Kingston, Jamaica by Lampshade and mixed and mastered by Donald ‘Tixie’ Dixon (Anthony B‘s engineer).
Though the corona virus has taken center stage in 2020, the issue of racial injustice has also become more visible, as persons are now able to capture police brutality on their smart phones.
As more and more black lives are lost at the hands of police, three Jamaican artists – Bugle, Jesse Royal and Kabaka Pyramid – have come together to demand change. The men released a video, titled “Change The World,” in which they state their respective cases. Click here to check it out.
Though the video for “Listen To The Waves“ by Alborosie was shared on his born day, July 4th, the song was not officially released at that time. The artist and his team may have rushed to get the visuals out in time for his earth day.
That being said, the song is now up on all streaming platforms. It was published on August 21st via VP Music Group.
Legendary reggae group, The Wailers, is back with a brand new studio album. The record, titled “One World,” has fourteen songs and it features: Julian Marley, Skip Marley, Farruko, Shaggy and Cedella Marley.

On Thursday, August 13th, I Grade Records released the official visuals to the soothing reggae tune, “Everything Bless,” performed by both Akae Beka and Tiken Jah Fakoly. The Rastafarian culture and lifestyle is on full display in this one.

Buju Banton was the musical guest on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon this past Tuesday. He performed the song, “The World Is Changing,” live from Jamaica with his full band.
